It’s that time of the year again, with Gamescom Opening Night Live happening. Several exciting trailers and game reveals took place, so here are some of my personal highlights from the show.
Here’s everything that stood out from Opening Night Live!

Revving Up – Gears of War E-Day Story Trailer
Leading up to a huge launch as an Xbox Console Exclusive, Gears of War: E-Day from Coalition impressed with a stunning story trailer at Opening Night Live.
Featuring the series iconic horror elements, brutal takedowns, and returning characters, Gears is back better than ever. After watching the story trailer, check out our coverage of the game at Gamescom! Blue Bombers – Mega Man Override Gameplay Reveal
After several years of collection releases, Capcom’s legendary Blue Bomber is back better than ever. Mega Man Override had its major gameplay reveal trailer at Opening Night Live.
Spotlighting the series tried-and-true 2D platforming roots, new mechanics, and the introduction of a new Robot Master (Twinkle Girl), it looks promising. Most excitingly, it appears to have additional player customization for Mega Man, and every Robot Master is split into three full-sized levels.
In addition, Capcom’s Pragmata is getting costumes inspired by Mega Man later in the year!
Eikonic Encounters – Final Fantasy VII Revelation Trailer
Following up on its exciting reveal from the Summer Games Showcase, Final Fantasy VII Revelation has a new trailer, showing enormous guardians called Weapons. These emerge to help protect the Earth from destruction, but cannot distinguish friend from foe, being another challenge for Cloud and crew to overcome.
Matching the intense scale of Final Fantasy XVI, these battles will be exciting bosses to take down when Revelation releases on all platforms in Spring 2027.
Roll Out! – Zoopunk Gameplay Trailer
One of the biggest surprises for me at Opening Night Live was Zoopunk.
This is an action title where you control a team of animals, each with unique combat styles. Developed by TiGames, this looks to be a promising title for those wanting a fun action game channeling the spirit of games like Star Fox and Sly Cooper.
A Surreal Arcade – Pony Island 2: Panda Circus Trailer
Another major surprise was a new trailer for the trippy Pony Island 2: Panda Circus. Mixing first-person action and arcade gaming, this surreal adventure is set for release in 2027.
Returning to Familar Cities – No Law Gameplay Trailer
For those that want a new adventure in Night City, consider giving No Law. From the team behind The Ascent, this first-person shooter combines stunning visuals, open-world action, and player freedom to offer that authentic cyberpunk feel.
Launching in 2027, this is one title to keep an eye on.
For the Money – Crazy Taxi: World Tour Multiplayer Trailer
If you want to explore a more colorful city though, look no further than SEGA’s Crazzzzzzzy Taxi! The series’ newest installment, World Tour, was front-and-center during Opening Night Live with a new Multiplayer trailer showcasing the wild cast of characters players can play for the game’s multiplayer mode.
The game’s open network test goes live this fall, so sign up if you want to get a taste of Crazy Taxi: World Tour ahead of it’s 2027 launch on PS5, Series X/S, PC, and Switch 2.
A New Song – Witcher 3 Remastered & Songs of the Past Revealed
Known for giving back to the community, CD Projekt Red revealed at Opening Night Live a new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, alongside a remaster for the base game.
While Songs of the Past releases in 2027, Witcher 3: Remastered launches on Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on September 29th. Alongside improvements such as a revamped combat system, several new quality-of-life and other additions are coming to the game.
The Remaster is a free upgrade for all existing owners of Witcher 3 on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Switch platforms. In addition, the game’s previous two expansions are free for all owners of the base game now.
Through the Fire & Flames – Stage Tour Release Date Trailer
By far one of the most exciting announcements for me was Stage Tour. This is a revival of the music game genre, specifically Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
Promising an exciting set-list of over 90 songs, support for instrument and traditional controllers, and a base $40 price tag, this is one rock show to get tickets for. Stage Tour is set for release on PlayStation 5, Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC on December 10th, 2026.
Morbid Kitties – Mewgenics Console Release Date Revealed
From the insanely brilliant mind behind The Binding of Issac, Edmund McMillen’s Mewgentics launches on consoles after a successful PC release on September 8th, 2026.
Opening Night Live celebrated the game by playing one of its awesome songs during the show.
Atomic Hearts – Metro 2039 Gameplay Trailer
Metro 2039 got a new trailer at Opening Night Live, with 4A Gams showing off the game’s impressive visuals and a new voiced protagonist fighting his way through a ruined world. The open-world shooter launches February 2027 across PlayStation 5, Series X/S, and PC.
Musical Hops – Rayman Legends Retold Music Level Trailer
Rayman Legends Retold is one of my most anticipated games of Fall 2026, with one major reason being the game’s awesome music levels. Legends Retold includes a set of new musical levels to punch and jump through.
The game is set to release October 1st across PS5, Switch 2, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. Check out our preview for the game from Summer Games Fest!
Dark Magic – Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons Reveal Trailer
Going from colorful glades to dark fantasy, Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons was officially revealed at Opening Night Live.
Wizards of the Coast provided IGN the following blurb about the game:
Warlock is set in a dark fantasy open world inspired by Dungeons & Dragons where magic is a tool that players will use creatively across systemic combat and exploration. Developed by Invoke Studios, the game places players in the role of Kaatri, a veteran weapons master who makes a pact to wield otherworldly magic against dark powers.
The gameplay trailer impressed me, combining careful exploration and combat planning. The game launches in 2027 on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
Standing Your Ground – Tides of Annihilation Trailer
A new trailer for Tides of Annihilation, an action game inspired by FFXV and FFXVI, during Opening Night Live.
It spotlights new story elements, alongside the proper reveal of Angela Sant’Albano as the new voice for lead character, Gwendolyn. The game is still set for release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
A Growing Skeleton – Crimson Desert Enhanced Revealed
Released early in the year, Crimson Desert continues to expand and grow with consistent updates. One could easily say that the launch game reviewers and early adopters played is a very different experience from what people can play right now.
Announced at Opening Night Live, this ambitious open-world adventure is receiving an Enhanced Edition, adding new story elements and several others. It’s on sale now, and this 2.0 Update is out now for all owners of the game.
Gotta Swing Around – Ananta Release Date Trailer
Closing out this Opening Night Live highlight reel is the exciting free-to-play Ananta. Taking inspiration from several games, such as Grand Theft Auto and Marvel’s Spider-Man, this open world adventure invites players to do, well, everything!
The trailer highlights activities like fishing and several more. The game launches on PlayStation 5, PC, and Mobile Devices on January 17th, 2027. Check out Flame’s in-depth article breaking down everything revealed from the trailer!
