When the Xbox One X launched back in 2017, a number of previously released games for the base Xbox One had been enhanced to take advantage of the new console’s extra power. Now with the Xbox Series X launching this year, I would expect a number of Xbox One games to be enhanced for the next-generation Xbox as well. Xbox Series X Enhanced Games are a reasonable expectation to have but nothing had been confirmed by Microsoft until now.
Last week in an Xbox Wire blog post, Phil Spencer confirmed that at least some Xbox One games will get enhanced.
“Our commitment to compatibility means existing Xbox One games, including backward-compatible Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, look and play better than ever before. Your favorite games, including titles in Xbox Game Pass, benefit from steadier framerates, faster load times and improved resolution and visual fidelity – all with no developer work required…..”
Now the very same Phil Spencer himself shared a tweet where he teased the first Gears 5 enhancements:
In this tweet, Phil talks about the best looking Gears game ever. It’s still not clear what these specific enhancements really are, but it’s good to hear that some of our beloved games are going to receive some next generation treatment.
