PlayStation Plus November 2024 Update
Every month, PlayStation adds a new roster of games to its PlayStation Plus service. This month not only offered Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged, Tango Gameworks’ Ghostwire: Tokyo, and surprise day-one drop Death Note Killer Within for Essential users, but has a sizeable collection of games for the Extra and Premium tier.
PlayStation Plus Extra Titles
Headlining the Extra offers is the return of Grand Theft Auto 5, playable on both PS4 and PS5 users. This includes both the main campaign and the GTA Online mode. Worth noting is that this game gets cycled in and out of PlayStation Plus, so for those who haven’t experienced the latest GTA experience, now’s a great time to jump in.
Other major additions included the open-world zombie parkour adventure Dying Light 2, the Yakuza spin-off Like a Dragon: Ishin, the motorcycle racing game MotoGP 24, and Bandai-Namco’s Digimon Survive. All these games and other Extra inclusions have both PS4 and PS5 versions accessible.
While the offering doesn’t include major recent releases, additions on Xbox Game Pass like Dying Light 2 and letting players experience gems like Digimon Survive are great inclusions into PS Plus Extra.
PlayStation Plus Premium Titles
The big additions are the iconic Insomniac Games Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. Both games released on PlayStation 3, the former at the consoles’ 2006 launch and the latter in 2008, are cult classics that many in the PlayStation community can enjoy. Before this release, only Resistance 3 was on PlayStation Plus Premium as a Streaming-Only game.
But with this release, games that never touched PlayStation Now are being added to the PS3 server blades. Will more PS3 games get added to the server blades? Or is this Sony biding their time while a PS3 emulator for PS5 is underway?
The Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain titles, using the recent PS1 and PS2 emulators for their respective titles, also join the PS Plus Premium Service. With the release of the Soul Reaver collection on modern platforms next month, PlayStation gamers experiencing the Blood Omen games take advantage of PS Plus Premium’s ‘legacy’ nature.
Lastly, PS VR 2 owners can leverage the ever-growing library of VR2 games on Premium with Synapse, with the blog post describing the VR shooter, stating;
Dual-wield brutal firepower and surging telekinesis in the ultimate mind-breaking VR action shooter. Unleash your inner anti-hero and invade the twisted subconscious of a notorious enemy of the state. Become a mind-breaking operative and wreak havoc on the enemy’s mind with deadly weaponry in one hand and expressive telekinetic abilities in the other. Combine your powers to overcome formidable defences and delve deeper into a hostile mindscape.
Closing Thoughts
As someone who uses the PS Plus Extra/Premium service occasionally, more classics come to the service is welcomed. While I wish the PS3 titles were native experiences, considering the streaming quality leaves much to be desired, people being able to play the entire Resistance trilogy is fantastic. Hopefully, one day it will be a completely native experience.
But what games will you play when the games go live on November 19th? Let us know in the comments below!
