Hitman 3: Where to Find the Case File in Dartmoor

During my playthrough of Hitman 3, I struggled with how to find the case file in Dartmoor. The game’s second mission, titled, Death in the Family, sees you crashing a Knives Out, inspired family gathering. Here, you are let loose within an expansive manor with various nooks and crannies to uncover. Agent 47 is given two objectives to complete over the course of the mission.

First, 47’s target, Alexa Carlisle, must be eliminated. Secondly, Diana Burnwood issues the objective to find a case file. And that, marks the beginning of our guide, on where to find this elusive case file and what the safe combination is.

You can find the office of Alexa Carlisle, on the manor’s top floor. Once there, you’ll notice a guard keeping position by the staircase on your left. As long as you have a manor guard’s outfit equipped, he won’t pester you.

Before you can even interact with the safe, it’s important to go to the balcony of the office. Here, you’ll find two guards discussing the location of the safe itself, conveniently enough. They’ll reveal the safe is hidden behind a painting and once you reenter the office the painting is on your immediate right. It’s a painting of a dog and it’s even highlighted in yellow if you use your vision.

To reveal the safe behind the painting, press the button on Alexa Carlisle’s chair. Once revealed, the safe will require 4 numbers to open it. Coincidentally, those numbers can all be found in this very room. Above the safe, you’ll find 4 items that actually give you an idea of what you should be looking for.

Those items include:

1. A Clock
2. A Telescope
3. The Bonfire
4. The Moose’s Head

Secret Safe Code Combination in Alexa’s Office

The Clock

First, you can find the clock on the right side of Alexa’s chair where you pressed the button. The clock is just underneath a painting with two horsemen, and below the clock, you’ll find the number 1.

A Telescope

Next, make your way to the top of floor of the office. Now, you’ll want to run over to the window leading out to another balcony. But right before passing through the door, you will find the telescope on the wall to your right, with the number 9.

The Moose’s Head

While up on the top floor, run across the length and just above the main doorway of the office, you’ll see a moose head. Above the head, there’s the number 5.

The Bonfire

Lastly, return to the bottom floor of the office and reach the fireplace, located opposite of the clock. Here, just above the fire, you’ll see the number 7.

Finally, with all numbers gathered, return to the safe and punch them in. When all together, Alexa Carlisle’s safe combination is 1975. Once you have done this, the safe cracks open, revealing the Case File inside.
