Raya Continues to Dominate the Box Office
This weekend viewers kept the animated movie Raya and the Last Dragon at the top of the box office. This is now the third weekend in a row the film is at the top. The Courier was able to sneak into third place in its first weekend.
The Courier was able to gross an estimated $2 million this weekend. With theaters slowly opening around the United States these numbers are bound to climb. Even though this movie is on HBO Max, it was able to gross an impressive amount of money. Tom and Jerry have a little time left on HBO Max before it is gone. The movie grossed $3.8 million this weekend.
Raya and the Last Dragon added $5.1 million this weekend. Currently, the domestic total sits at $23.4 million. The foreign market has been good to this movie where it has grossed $37 million. Right now that gives this film a worldwide total of $60.6 million. Speaking of the foreign market, last weekend Avatar took back the title of the highest-grossing movie of all time from Avengers: Endgame. Avatar was re-released in China where it grossed an impressive $25 million. This weekend that same movie grossed just a little less at $14 million. This film is sitting at $44 million at the Chinese box office. Hopefully, Walt Disney does this all around the world and re-releases it in more locations.

This past weekend Zack Snyder’s Justice League was finally released on HBO Max. Overall the response has been mostly positive. It is doubtful that Warner Bros. will continue on with his vision in future movies. No word has been mentioned if the studio is even willing to take a look at a second movie. Expect some great things in the next few weeks. Nobody, Godzilla vs Kong, and Mortal Kombat are all coming to a theater soon.
