Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Revealed
E3 is in full swing. Xbox and Bethesda led the charge for today’s conferences. Square Enix appeared next on the schedule with a surprise announcement. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a new installment coming from Team Ninja. Likewise, this marks the fourth Final Fantasy game currently in development.
Dark New Adventure
Stranger of Paradise was originally leaked sometime last month. Despite the leak, Square Enix prepared an action-packed reveal. The trailer centers on three characters: Jack, Ash, and Jed. Jack is the main protagonist and player-controlled character. The trio is on a quest to defeat chaos. Jack states it as fact and seems determined to accomplish this feat despite the hordes of monsters opposing them. They also may be among the prophecied ‘Warriors of Light’ from the franchise.

Lastly, They come face to face with Garland at the end of the trailer. Garland was first introduced in Final Fantasy as the main antagonist. The story suggests players may get to learn more about his fall from grace. He claims to have become Chaos. However, Stranger of Paradise will probably have more tricks up its sleeve.
Gameplay and More
Viewers received a brief glimpse of Jack’s gameplay. Jack wielded different weapons and attacks in the reveal. Chiefly, the protagonist wields an edgy buster sword. Spear attacks by Jack seemed akin to the Dragoon class from the franchise. Lastly, a wand and buckle combo was shown dishing out magic. Jack can use magic with other weapons as well, most likely to a lesser degree.
Team Ninja is most known for the Ninja Gaiden and Nioh franchise. The previous leak detailed a Final Fantasy game with souls-like gameplay or mechanics similar to Nioh. However, the trailer did not provide a clear answer. The gameplay lacked any visual hud to gauge if systems like stamina meters will be present.
Despite this, players can actually answer this for themselves. Team Ninja has released a demo for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin today on PlayStation 5. For those who cannot wait to get their hands on the game, this is a great opportunity. For others unable to participate: Stranger of Paradise releases the year 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
