Tennocon 2022 just came and went. Celebrating all things Warframe, Digital Extremes, and its community. From the small details to the full-on big reveals from TennoLive. Here is everything they showed that was noteworthy from the 4-hour event!
Please be aware that there will be spoilers for Warframe.
Small Details from Tennocon 2022
Taking it from the top. One of the first changes that were mentioned was a rework of some warframes. The first few mentioned were Mag and Excalibur. As well as other frames like Grendel will be getting a look at. But no details on their reworks are available. A small addition coming is facial hair for the Drifter. As well as some deluxe skins revealed. Like Titania Deluxe, which was just added to the game today, and Xaku Deluxe. Alongside the reveal of the “Wolf” warframe. No name or details aside from it having exalted claws were mentioned.
Available now is Khora Prime. Alongside her faithful companion being primed, she brought with her Hystrix Prime and Dual Keres Prime. Both of them boast a high critical chance and high critical damage multiplier. But there were two other smaller details during the event. For enthusiasts of the sound design in Angels of the Zariman. They revealed how they made the shriek for the Void Angels. As well as detailing that Baro Ki’teer will finally catch up on his inventory on console platforms.
Normally Baro would be ahead by two visits on PC meaning players on consoles would have to wait nearly a month to get the new goods. During an upcoming visit, he will add all of the missing inventory to his current inventory for all players. To bring things in sync. When this is happening has not been clarified. But moving on to the big reveals from TennoLive.
Big TennoLive Reveals
Tennolive had a lot of major reveals for not only Warframe but Digital Extremes as a whole. First on the docket was the announcement of Crossplay finally coming to the game soon. No window has been confirmed for Cross-progression. The 50th warframe “Styanax” will be coming soon as well. This warframe is themed around Greek warriors. As such it appears to have an exalted sword and shield type weapon. His lore will be coming in the form of a small animated video.
The biggest reveal for the whole event was the Duviri Paradox. A long-awaited reveal for the update that was teased 3 years ago. It will be a Drifter-only experience from what was shown. Taking direct influence for its gameplay from the souls-like and rogue-like genres. You will have to evade captivity from the Orokin and venture on into the new open world. This will be a guided experience and not just a “throw you into scanning plants, catching fish, or mining ore” gameplay loop.
There will be several impactful choices that dictate how your experience will be. Such as being able to instantly a “Kaithe” or horse. While receiving weaponry from off the beaten path. There was a boss fight shown and an explanation of what the mysterious “Void Dragons” were. The Duviri Paradox is slated to launch in Winter this year. You can catch the full reveal above.
Warframe Veilbreaker Reveal
For those who have played The New War. You can look forward to an all-new update that expands upon the effects of that story. You will step into the shoes of Kahl and potentially Viso to take on threats from Narmer’s remnants. As well as going on to take on Archons again with the return of Erra as a new fightable Archon too. Further details will be revealed at a later date. The trailer can be found below with its release window for this year.
New Games Announced for Digital Extremes
A new IP being developed by Airship Syndicate is in active development. This game will be published by Digital Extremes. It will be a massively multiplayer online game in a fantasy setting. But that was not the only new game reveal. Digital Extremes ended the show by announcing a new game called “SoulFrame”.
There are very few details to go on for this game as it was just announced, aside from it being a new MMO. But the game will be spearheaded by former Warframe creative director Steve Sinclair. He has passed his role on to Rebecca Ford, the Community Director of Warframe. Congratulations are in order for her as she has been with the company for a long time and voice acted The Lotus in Warframe. Lead strong, Space Mom. The trailer for SoulFrame can be found above.
Tennocon 2022 Wrap-Up
Overall, this was a spectacular show for Digital Extremes. As it not only laid out a good roadmap for Warframe for the rest of the year. But gave fans of the company a glimpse into what they are making in the future. However, there was one last thing involving this event that I was a part of. The Duviri Amphitheatre experience was a disappointment. As it required watching the stream on another device while being in-game with other players to look at in-game models.
It was a great idea. But the wait for things to get started and the fact players could only stare at idle characters was a little jarring. Nevertheless, Tennocon 2022 was a spectacular show, but you could’ve skipped this in-game event.
