Demeo: A Few Tips and Tricks To Remember

Until this year, I have been a long doubter of VR. I didn’t think the technology was good enough or that I would enjoy what we could do with it. Then I found Demeo which is one of the best games I have ever played in my life. So, for anyone that is interested they should definitely check it out. The game has a flow of continuous content that will keep you occupied for hours. For everyone that’s getting into it, I am going to talk about some Demeo tips and tricks.

General Demo Tips During Your Turn

Demeo PC Edition - Roots of Evil 003

There are many vital Demeo tips to keep in mind, especially during your turn. When planning your turn, one thing I always see a lot of people do is open doors or reveal passageways at the end of the turn. You have 2 actions so try not to open new areas, especially if you’re the last ally to go. You want to try and open it early in the turn or with your first action, so you can react and protect yourself.

Keep Choke Points in Mind

Choke points can also prove very critical in Demeo to help take down enemies, especially big mobs or even bosses. Gas lamps and fire lamps can also block passageways. So use that to your advantage and be careful not to get hurt by them if they explode. The rogue can also block enemies if he is in stealth and they won’t even attack him.

Demeo Tips – Hoard Some Gold

Don’t be afraid to venture around the level you’re on to try and gather as much gold as possible. Gold proves to be very useful for the 2nd and 3rd stages of the adventure. You find great cards or items in the shop between the levels with some of the better ones costing around 500 gold.

Save Often

Another good thing to remember is to save your games at floor transitions and remember the room code in case you get disconnected.

Know Your Way Around the Board

You can also tilt the Demeo board if you need a better view. Always hover over the tile you want to land on after trying to open a door, open a chest, do an attack, or use the health fountain. You can also tell if you are behind an enemy by looking at the base of their miniature. There is a little arrow that shows which way the characters are facing.

Throw Cards in the Shared Mana Pool

If you have cards you aren’t going to use, you can throw them in the shared mana pool on the side. Once it reaches 100 everyone receives a new card if they have space and you can only carry 10 cards. Make sure people have open spots if you’re getting ready to get a new card.

Stock up on Health Potions

I recommend buying health potions as they can be vital. Healing potions don’t require action points, so you can heal yourself, your allies, or allied objects. Healing potions also can resurrect your teammates as well.

Place Ranged Characters on Elevated Areas and in the Rear

Ranged characters can get different vantage points from elevated areas. These type of characters should also normally stay near the back, but I’m not afraid to punch an enemy in the face as the sorcerer.

Enemy and Card Tips

In Demeo, you have the ability to know all about your enemies. You can pick up their miniature and it shows your everything about them. You can see their immunities, movement, attack, and everything. The same can also be done with your allies and yours as well.

If the area has elven hounds you can use the bone card on them and turn them into an ally. The spider will attack whatever is entangled before other things first. Lures can prove useful as they will distract enemies until all their health points are gone. Elementals explode when they die so do your best to kill them from a distance so no allies get hurt. Giant slimes can be one-hit killed by being hit with a bottle of lye.

Use the special potions in Demeo like swiftness and strength right away, because they last the whole adventure. Coin flip won’t work on the actual bosses because they are immune.

Hunter Mark makes enemies vulnerable so is very useful with Assassin’s Backstab. The bone can also heal your friendly dog or make the enemy target you.

Curse of the Serpent Lord Boss

Demeo recently released a new adventure not long ago called The Curse of the Serpent Lord. It added some interesting features like the sand piles that can spawn an enemy or gold. There is also a merchant in the game for that you can trade a golden scarab for an item. I think it’s the most difficult adventure released so far especially dealing with the corruption aspect introduced here. Initially, everyone thinks the hydras are the boss but turns out there is an invisible boss. The actual boss gets revealed when the party steps on the four designated squares. What if I told you that you don’t have to reveal him? When in-game and you are moving your hands around you will notice your pointer kind of gets pushed up when moved over an enemy.

If you move around and can see your pointer have the little push-up over a square with no one there it’s the actual boss. You and your allies can actually attack the boss while invisible if you find him. The boss will continue to move around and try to get away while you are attacking him. He doesn’t attack during this time either. Once you have dropped him to around half health he will be revealed and no longer invisible. Now you and your Demeo allies can finish him off and complete your adventure. The boss does have some powerful abilities so you still have to be careful to he is defeated. This presents a whole new avenue for people to beat that particular boss.

Wrap Up

There is still plenty more planned for Demeo like another adventure and even PVP. I would of never even bought a Meta Quest 2 if I wouldn’t have been introduced to Demeo by Lord Cognito from the Iron Lords Podcast LLC.  If you want even more tips you can go into Demeo hangouts in-game and find the tip book. The Demeo tip book reveals all kinds of small useful tips. Resolution Games has plenty more planned for this amazing game.

  1. Just bought this for PSVR2, and am loving it. Got my ass kicked pretty good the first few times, so these tips are much-appreciated!
