PlayStation Showcase 2023: Marathon Is A Reimagined Game From Bungie
Ahead of the summer 2023 all-digital gaming shows, today Sony is holding its very own all-digital PlayStation Showcase. The showcase will open up what will be a very busy summer season with Summer Game Fest (hyperlink with the link below) right around the corner. During the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Bungie’s long-awaited next project was revealed. Introducing the return of Marathon.
For those that may not be familiar prior to the days of Halo and Destiny, Bungie made a FPS in 1994 called Marathon. It was a Sci-fi shooter that featured a single-player campaign, alongside a multiplayer deathmatch-style mode. Now in 2023 Marathon will be returning as an extraction PVP-focused shooter. This is the first time that Bungie has worked on a new IP in over a decade. It will be interesting with all the studio’s knowledge of the Games As A Service model in how they will deliver Marathon. We might not know much right now, but one thing is for certain. It is exciting to see Bungie step outside of Destiny and try their hand at something different. Here is hoping we will get to see more of this new title soon. Marathon will be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC at launch.
