The Xbox Partner Preview showcase just wrapped up, and during the show, The Legend of Baboo was unveiled to the world.
The Legend of Baboo Revealed During the Xbox Partner Preview
Developed by Turkish indie developers Permanent Way and published by Midwest Games, The Legend of Baboo is a third-person action-adventure game made in Unreal Engine 5. The game looks impressive, to say the least, with a variety of biomes for players to explore in this rich Eastern folklore-inspired world. From luminous dark forests to a desert valley connected by rickety wooden bridges, the game has some truly fantastic vistas. In fact, graphically, the game gives off some Kena: Bridge of Spirits vibes, which also uses Unreal Engine.

In The Legend of Baboo, players take control of a young adventurer named Sepehr and his pet dog Baboo. Together they will solve puzzles, traverse platforming sections, fight enemies in what seems to appear to be Zelda-like combat, and best of all you can ride your giant fluffy dog companion. And yes, players can pet the Baboo, which is always a plus in any game.
Combat looks to mix in dodging mechanics (with a slow-motion dodge for perfect timings) and magical staff attacks for a robust experience. From the reveal, players can expect boss fights as well. Based on the trailer, it looks like Baboo will play a prominent role in the story of The Legend of Baboo.
The Legend of Baboo releases on Steam and Xbox One and Series S|X in 2025.
Key Features of The Legend of Baboo
- Becoming a Legend: Both Sepehr and Baboo will have their own skill trees to power up offensive and defensive abilities in combat, along with unlocking skills.
- The Goodest Boy: Players can customize Baboo with different outfits and ornaments earned throughout their journey.
- Embracing the Magic: Defeating bosses will unlock special magical attacks, which consume mana but take out large hordes of enemies. Equip your favorite special attacks to create a build that suits your playstyle.
