Devstream 183 Breakdown

Before they dived into the content breakdown for Warframe: 1999, they went over a few interesting bits of information. For one, Digital Extremes has raised, since 2024, one million dollars for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in their Quest to Conquer Cancer.

Quest to Conquer Cancer Money Raised

The festivities for TennoBaum 2024 will begin on December 2nd and run until January 3rd in the new year. There will be a goal of 100,000 gifts that will go to a good cause, namely Toys for Tots in Canada. They will also be bringing back the PvP alerts in the conclave to get some holiday themed goodies. More details for TennoBaum 2024 can be found here.

They also talked about their attendance to Geoff Keighleys Game Awards. If you watch the show on December 12th, you will not only get a free Nyx warframe, but you will also see the release date for Warframe: 1999. To cap off the pre-show they talked about Tickets for TennoCon 2025 will go live early next year and also showcased the Heirloom skin for Rhino.

But with all of that out of the way, we can finally talk about what more we learned about for the new content in Warframe: 1999.

The Technocyte Coda is being Delayed into Next Year

The Technocyte Coda, or infested Liches that they went into great detail on in Devstream 182, are being delayed into next year. They have confirmed that the content in Warframe: 1999 is not dependent on the infested Liches being a part of the expansion next month. The reason for the delay is to ensure that the expansion launches as polished as it can be, and to ensure the new system for the infested Liches will be as bug free as possible. While this a major blow to the content offerings in Warframe: 1999 they did showcase a whole slew of new content for it.

For starters, they showed off that the tank fight in the Warframe: 1999 gameplay demo will have a second phase to it. Where it becomes infested and walks on infested tendrils to add more challenge to the fight. They revealed the second in command for the Scaldra enemy faction for the expansion. His name will be Viktor and will be voiced by Neil Newbon, or Astarion from Baldurs Gate 3, or Fibonacci in the Whispers in the Walls expansion from last year in Warframe.

They also showed off the mission selection screen for Warframe: 1999. The computer in your orbiter will allow you to select missions or you can go to the Hollvania mall for bounty selections. They also confirmed you will have to finish The Lotus Eaters, and The Duviri Paradox before you can play Warframe: 1999.

Hex Syndicate Breakdown

The Hex is the new upcoming Syndicate in Warframe: 1999, bringing to the game 6 new characters with unique functions:

  • Arthur, the leader who you talk to when you are able to rank up the syndicate.
  • Amir, who will have the blueprints for the AX-52 auto rifle, Vesper 77 side arm, a new automatic rifle called Reconifex that has a Gears of War style perfect reload mechanic that gives it fiery bullets for the whole magazine. As well as Cyte-09s blueprints.
  • Aoi will have the somachords, simplifying acquisition of new music for your orbiter.
  • Quincy will have the Protokol weapon skins and other cosmetics.
  • Eleanor has new Arcanes to buy, and the Lich weapons when the Technocyte Coda launches next year.
  • And Leticia will be the character you talk to when you have items you pick up that can be used to gain reputation.

They will be in the Hollvania mall, and this mall will also have a bounty board where you can select missions to earn reputation and extra rewards for doing certain objectives. But what makes the bounty board in Warframe: 1999 different is that every bounty will have a certain member of the Hex join you on that mission. Some missions will have Eleanor the Nyx protoframe, and some will have Arthur the Excalibur protoframe for example. You will also be able to progress your relationship with these characters for the new relationship system in this expansion.

Warframe: 1999 Romance System

The relationship system will basically be a light dating sim or friendship system depending on your tastes. This system will also allow you to learn more about each member of the Hex. But if you end up in a bad outcome with any of the members, you can wait until a new interval in Hollvania for another shot with them. There are no gameplay related rewards, just special interactions with the member of the Hex you progress with the most.

New PvEvP Game Mode: Face Off

On top of a new “Endless Capture” game mode they talked about on the previous devstream. There will be a new “race against time” style game mode called Face Off. Face Off will have two different variants for difficulty, one will allow you to face off against a team of enemy Tenno while being on a team with fellow Tenno. As well as one that allows you to fight with and against bots.

In this new game mode, there will be three sets of objectives to finish, and the team that finishes first, wins. It is very simple, but you will be able to earn Conclave standing in this new game mode, amongst other rewards, including new arcanes. While playing this game mode you can encounter items to pick up that will buff you team, while also finding debuffs for the enemy team.

Finally, they went over the rework for Nyx, and showcased the abilities for Cyte-09, the new warframe in Warframe: 1999.

Cyte-09 Warframe Ability Breakdown

Cyte-09 will be a new stealth gunner warframe, that can be earned via bounties or spending reputation at Amir in Warframe: 1999, his abilities work like so:

  • His Passive: Increase critical chance against weak points of enemies depending on how many kills you earn with weak points.
  • His first ability will scan an area in front of you, highlighting weak points and allowing punch through in the environment to his behind walls.
  • His second ability will allow you to drop a box of unique elemental ammo to refill any weapons magazine with and add that type of damage to it.
  • His third ability will turn him invisible for a set duration, and if you kill enemies with weak point damage, you will extend his invisibility.
  • Finally, his fourth ability will give you an exalted sniper rifle that drains energy per shot fired. If you hit an enemy weak point, these shots will ricochet to other enemy weak points.

For Nyx’s rework, it is a similar light touch up for Trinity, and will make her function like so:

  • Her Passive: When in the vicinity of 5 or more enemies affected by her confusion abilities, she gains triple critical chance for her weapons.
  • Her first ability works almost the same as before, but you can see how much more damage the mind-controlled target will do. In addition to this, that target will do innate radiation damage, and have faster movement speed and more aggressive AI.
  • Her second ability will now strip armor, overguard or shields and give those to Nyx when she damages the enemies affected. When you kill foes affected by the psychic bolts, it will trigger two more bolts to seek out other foes.
  • Her third ability now just inflicts enemies will radiation, achieving the same confused state.
  • Her fourth ability will now allow her to move around at will and absorb damage from anywhere around her. After unleashing the damage, she will gain invulnerability in accordance to how much damage was absorbed. It will now have a fixed duration, so it does not eat up all of your energy in one go.

Cyte-09 sounds very good, but his sniper rifle may be the weakest link on a very strong chain of abilities, while Nyx sounds like she could be very useful moving forward.

Final Bits of Information from Devstream 183

They also clarified that every Gemini skin will come with a usable emote by any and all warframes. They will not change that specific warframe into the Gemini skin for the emote you use but will be usable for style purposes. The Contra-like mini game, Caliber Chicks which will be accessible in the Hollvania mall will have a leaderboard and looks like a lot of old school arcade fun. Including health drops and different firing styles when you shoot down the respective items.

They also showed off the On-lyne Merchandise pack, which will be $59.99 USD and can be found here.
