Mission Tokyo – Sonic X Shadow ‘Sonic 3 Movie Pack’ Details Revealed
Following the successful launch of Sonic X Shadow Generations, the first major DLC for the title will be released on December 12th. Until recently, specific details were unknown, specifically how much content it would provide.
SEGA released an official statement on its Japanese site explaining the content included ‘Sonic 3 Movie’ DLC.
Sonic Movie 3 DLC Information Revealed
SEGA Japan’s official website revealed how much content is included in the ‘Sonic 3 Movie Pack’ DLC, which previously only limited information was given to the public and press.
Similar to the other main Zones featured in Shadow Generations, the ‘Tokyo’ level based on Sonic 3 will feature two full acts. While not directly stated, it’s likely Act 1 will be in 3D while Act 2 will be in 2D.
In addition, they confirm that Keanu’s version of Shadow, who is playable and voiced by the legendary actor, is only usable in this Zone. That includes the Challenge Acts, shorter missions for Shadow to complete based on gimmicks, and level design featured in the Zone.
Why isn’t Movie Shadow Playable in the Base Game?
It is a shame that Movie Shadow isn’t playable for the base Shadow Generations stages. However, there is a reason for this.
TheBlazingRush on Twitter/X explained exactly why this is the case, stating that the amount of work making the Teros skin for Shadow usable across the entire base campaign, would have to be replicated for Movie Shadow.
And that’s not including getting Kenau to voice additional dialog, outside of his lines that’ll be featured in the DLC Zone. Considering getting Keanu to re-dub existing voice work and spending more resources to make Movie Shadow work for the mid-level transitions, the budget likely isn’t there for Sonic Team.
This will affect console gamers mainly, with the PC community doing the work to make Movie Shadow work in base-game stages (and even Sonic Generations levels as well)
