The battle between Prime Itachi Uchiha and Prime Sasuke Uchiha has intrigued fans of Naruto and myself for many years. These two shinobi, brothers from the legendary Uchiha clan, are both geniuses in their own right. A fight between them at their absolute peaks, especially with Itachi unburdened by his terminal illness is a captivating clash of skill, power, and strategy. Let’s delve into their abilities, strengths, and possible outcomes.

Prime Itachi Uchiha Strengths

Itachi is a master strategist with his intellect and strategic prowess being unmatched. He often ends battles before they begin by outsmarting his opponents. In addition to this, we have the added Dōjutsu of the Sharingan and Mangekyō Sharingan which gives Itachi access to:

  • Amaterasu: Black flames that burn anything in their path.
  • Tsukuyomi: A genjutsu so powerful it can trap opponents in a nightmarish world where time and space are controlled.
  • Susanoo: His ultimate defense, wielding the Totsuka Blade, which seals anything it pierces, and the Yata Mirror, a shield said to nullify any attack.

Itachi essentially has mastery over all of his genjutsu in his arsenal. His genjutsu is so potent that he can trap opponents using a single glance. Look at what he did to Kakashi early in Naruto with Kakashi having access to one Sharingan. He is also always so calm in every situation. Itachi remains composed under pressure, allowing him to counteract even the most unpredictable attacks.

Minor Limitations

Even though Itachi is a force to be reckoned with, some limitations might come into play here. While he’s highly skilled, his chakra reserves are not as vast as Sasuke’s. This could lead to some issues if the fight is prolonged. Then there is the fact he does like to rely on genjutsu. Genjutsu’s effectiveness depends on the opponent’s ability to resist or counter it. So this could play a factor in the fight.

Prime Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke has a few different strengths of note. Starting with his Sharingan, Mangekyō Sharingan, and Rinnegan. These give Sasuke access to:

  • Amaterasu and Blaze Release: Sasuke can shape and manipulate the black flames with precision.
  • Susanoo: Sasuke’s Susanoo is extremely advanced, capable of wielding bows and arrows infused with Amaterasu.
  • Rinnegan: Grants him abilities like space-time ninjutsu, control over gravitational forces, and heightened perception.

Sasuke has a ninjutsu master that many others might not have. He has his trusty Chidori and variants which is his signature technique thanks to early training from Kakashi. Chidori enhanced by his Sharingan is used to precise execution. Then there is Kirin which is a devastating lightning technique that can obliterate targets instantly. Despite what we have seen in the Boruto series with Sasuke always being low on chakra, Prime Sasuke has great chakra reserves.

Sasuke’s stamina and chakra pool surpass Itachi’s, allowing him to sustain high-level techniques for longer. Sasuke has had some great battle experiences throughout his time. Sasuke’s battles against legendary shinobi, tailed beasts, and essentially gods in the Ōtsutsuki like Kaguya, have honed his combat skills.

Minor Limitations

Now the difference between Itachi’s and Sasuke’s limitations is I believe Sasuke’s limitations could prove to be worse. Sasuke’s impulsive and aggressive nature can sometimes lead to reckless decisions. Not only that but he has an over-reliance on power. He may underestimate opponents who rely on strategy rather than raw strength. Itachi is very smart and would surely use this to his advantage if both ninjas were going all out in their prime.

Head-to-Head Analysis

Genjutsu Battle

While Itachi’s Tsukuyomi is one of the strongest genjutsu techniques, Sasuke’s Sharingan and Rinnegan provide a strong defense. In their original encounter, Sasuke demonstrated resilience against Itachi’s genjutsu, and his abilities would only be stronger in his prime. Itachi would also be better without his sickness too, so it’s difficult to say who has the edge here.

Ninjutsu and Physical Combat

Sasuke has the edge in raw power and diversity of techniques. His mastery of Blaze Release, combined with techniques like Kirin, would push Itachi to rely on his defensive capabilities, such as the Yata Mirror. However, Itachi’s precision and ability to exploit weaknesses could level the playing field. Then you have to factor in Sasuke’s impulsiveness.

Clash of the Susanoo

Both brothers possess powerful Susanoo forms, but Sasuke’s is augmented by his Rinnegan and infused with Amaterasu, giving him an advantage in prolonged clashes. However, Itachi’s Totsuka Blade offers a one-hit win condition, provided he lands a decisive strike. With him being a master in strategy he might be able to land one.

Stamina and Longevity

Sasuke’s superior chakra reserves would allow him to outlast Itachi in a drawn-out battle. Itachi would need to end the fight quickly, leveraging his superior strategy and precision.

Final Thoughts

In a fight between Prime Itachi and Prime Sasuke, the outcome would depend on the circumstances. If the battle is short enough Itachi’s superior strategy and precision could grant him victory, especially if he lands a decisive blow with the Totsuka Blade. But if the battle goes long Sasuke’s superior stamina, diverse techniques, and raw power would likely overwhelm Itachi. Ultimately, Sasuke’s advancements throughout including the Rinnegan and greater chakra reserves do give him the edge in most scenarios.

However, Itachi’s brilliance ensures that no battle would be easily won. This hypothetical fight highlights the unparalleled genius and strength of the Uchiha brothers, making it one of the most compelling matchups in the Naruto universe. If you are looking for my answer I would say Prime/Healthy Itachi manages to take advantage of Sasuke’s impulsiveness and very slightly edges out a win against Sasuke. Let me know what you think and what other hypothetical you would like to hear about!
