Soulframe Devstream 15 Breakdown

Today was a very busy day for Digital Extremes. Following their explosive Devstream for their marquee title, Warframe, they sat down for an equally explosive and exciting Devstream for their upcoming fantasy MMORPG, Soulframe. This Devstream went over details from their most recent Preludes update, which was more of a preview for a much larger change for an even bigger update coming in June. Below will be everything they showed from Devstream 15!

Everything From Devstream 15 for Soulframe

This was quite a big stream, and featured a little bit of news for everything involving the game, even some teases for TennoCon 2026. They will have a trailer featured at Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest, and will be aimed at showing Soulframe and what it is about to people unfamiliar with the game (it is in pre-alpha, after all). But from here, they dived into a lot of upcoming changes for the game in Preludes 15 next month.

For starters, Virtue Liths are gone. These items restricted the ability to freely allocate points between the game’s Virtue system. This is after moving away from the original point system and into an equippable “Prism” system. From here, they showed off a new heavy mace that has actually explosive heavy attacks, and later in the stream, a brand new halberd that has unique swinging animations. These 2 weapons, alongside a few more, are coming to Preludes 15 alongside the new loot system for all weapons.

How the New Loot System will work

Weapons will now drop like candy from pretty much everything: enemies, bosses, weapon rocks, chests, you name it. They will drop with unique rolls called “Tempers”. There are already a few in the game, but they mentioned there will be more variety, including “cursed” ones with a possible debuff. If you do not like the rolls on a weapon, you can spend currency at the blacksmith in your player hub to reroll it and even upgrade it. Allowing players to fully invest in the weapons they like the most.

They mentioned that now that weapons can just drop, any weapon you buy with premium currency will not have any rolls on them to prevent a “lootbox” scenario. This decision is strange, as if weapons can just drop randomly, that they would not need a direct “purchase” option, especially if player trading is getting added. They showed this featured off in a faction hub, where you could see 2 players trading a rune for a weapon. Speaking of which, Runes and Totems will be getting a slight overhaul. Totems will now offer certain buffs for your equipped Rune moving forward.

Alongside all of these changes, Digital Extremes talked about how already acquired weapons and “Fragments” will work. For starters, your existing weapons will either be “Stock” (the weakest) or “Noble” (fairly strong), depending on the weapon. You will then be able to upgrade the rarity and roll tempers onto it with the new loot system in place. Fragments will also be done away with, and only return for “top-tier” weapons in a later update.

New Enemies are Coming in Preludes 15

One of the new enemies coming in Preludes 15 for Soulframe is a new “Ode Drone”. This drone steals loot and fires projectiles at it. It levitates off the ground, so it will be hard to hit with normal weapon melee attacks. They also showed off the previously teased horse rider mendicant. It will be a boss, and it has really cool attack animations. It may be “held off” for a different update, however, according to Digital Extremes.

There is also a new endgame level island coming to the game. Filled with the ghost pirates from the recent Fable in Preludes 14. They are also adding randomized objectives, enemy layouts, and hazards to every siege to make each run feel unique. On top of all of these changes, there will also be a new player inbox and a rework to the current map you can look at. The changes include region name additions.

Some other stuff shown off includes new hairstyles for players and a render of cows for the environment. They also showed off a new “DE” logo for when you boot up the game. Alongside a concept for a corrupted mendicant styled Pact, they did not go into any details for.

Ben Starr is Being Added to Soulframe

Finally, they ended the stream with the news that Ben Starr, of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Warframe: 1999 fame, is joining the voice cast of Soulframe. This news is especially exciting, as we will learn of his character at TennoCon 2026.

But that wraps up everything from Devstream 15 for Soulframe. If you would like to watch the full Devstream for any minute details or shenanigans, you can find it down below!
