Destiny 2 has enjoyed a great year of content. The Witch Queen ushered in a new era of storytelling and gameplay for the game. Calus is here to collect. He and the Witness continue their invasion of the Sol system. Yet, guardians are not easily shaken. The Lightfall showcase introduced a new destination. Players will travel to Neptune for the first time. Here, guardians will discover Neomuna, an advanced city hidden away from others.
Survivors of the collapse founded the city. They escaped earth and the darkness, thriving and creating a technological wonder. However, Calus and his new Shadow Legion are coming. Neomuna never experienced the Traveller’s blessing or guardians. Yet, they do have Cloud Striders willing to defend the innocent along with the Vanguard of the last city. Players will need to work with them to combat Cabal enhanced by Pyramid technology.
Embrace the Darkness
Lightfall also brings a new Darkness subclass. Strand centers on the manipulation of reality. Guardians manipulate threads of existence and remold them. Strand boasts unique themes between the classes:
- Warlocks – Architect (telekinetic sorcerers)
- Titans – Tyrant (untamed and wild)
- Hunters – Threadrunner (masters of movement, speed, and grace)
Additionally, all classes will share a new grapple hook through Strand. This ability behaves similarly to the grapple hook from Halo Infinite. However, guardians can grapple even without an anchor point. This ability will surely transform the sandbox of Destiny 2.
Season of the Plunder
Next, the Lightfall showcase revealed the next season. Season of the Plunder is pirate-themed. Eramis has broken free from her prison. Previously the antagonist of Beyond Light, She now hunts relics with the help of House Salvation and Fallen pirates.
Spider and The Drifter head your excursions to thwart Eramis’s efforts. Additionally, Mithraaks and Ido also join in the hopes of uniting the Eliksni for good.
Ketchcrash is a new six-player matchmade activity. Here, guardians board enemy ketch’s in iconic, gung-ho fashion. Plunder the enemy treasure and celebrate with your crew like a true pirate.
Expeditions utilize a fireteam of three. A star chart in the helm will give players clues to the whereabouts of secret treasure. Find and retrieve the treasure safely.
Lastly, Pirate Hideouts are the weekly missions for Season of the Plunder. Smoke out pirate lords and commandeer their relics to progress the story. Players can jump into the new season starting today.
Return of the King
After Vault of Glass, fans were eager to learn about the next reprised raid for Destiny 2. The Lightfall showcased fulfilled many wishes and prophecies too. King’s Fall is making its way to Destiny 2. This raid holds a high place in many people’s hearts. Its raid boss, Oryx, is one of the greatest villains in the franchise.
Now, many players can relive the nostalgia and introduce new lights to this stellar raid. The day one raid race will be held 8/26/22 beginning at reset. Like Vault of Glass, competing raid teams will need to complete the raid challenges and clear every encounter to be victorious. King’s Fall will be free to all players.

Bungie took to the stage of the Lightfall showcase to unveil a collaboration with Epic Games. Destiny 2 is now available on the Epic Games store.
Additionally, a crossover with Fortnite is underway. Players can hop in to purchase a plethora of Destiny-themed cosmetics including skins of Zalava, Ikora, and Elsie Bray. Destiny 2 received armor ornaments inspired by Fortnite skins.
