DC fans are having the worst time right now. We lost the Snyderverse, we lost Superman, and we lost all those movies and shows. Some of those movies could have been great to watch (The Trench). As a fan, I do not have to accept the new Superman or any of this new stuff that will be coming out. Yet, I can’t help to be excited to see where James Gunn can take us. Can this new regime fix it all? Only time will tell if Chapter One: Gods and Monsters will work.
At this point, James Gunn has created some of the best DC content. The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are both fantastic in their own way. DC hasn’t always worked in the past. Everything that had started with Man of Steel was working great. As we progressed into the next movie it seemed that too many people were messing with the future of DC. That just kept going as these movies weren’t grossing the money that The Avengers had.
Marvel works because Kevin is in charge of everything. This isn’t always the best way to do something, numerous directors have left due to creative differences. Now those differences in DC have crushed movies to the point they just suck. All the issues in DC have seemed to come from no one working together and constantly stepping over each other. You can not have that many cooks in a kitchen and expect to get dinner done. Marvel has a plan in place to keep everything going for years.
Elseworld Can Continue Some Movies
I don’t agree with getting rid of our Superman. Even as we see the future ahead of us fans could still get these projects in the Elseworlds side of DC. I mean we still have The Batman: Part 2 coming along with a second Joker movie. It seems to me as a fan that we shouldn’t put all our eggs into one basket. At the end of all this, we should not even be here. We should be into our second Justice League film and countless other properties. I really wanted to see a horror movie set in the DC universe. For me, DC has always been the darker counterpart to Marvel. It just seemed right.
I know some would see this as a waste of time to complain about what was. Well, I just see it as a way to finally end the conversations that we have been having about all of the DC mess. I think it is time to just move on and see what happens.
