At this year’s PlayNYC festival, we went hands-on with some up-and-coming indie developers’ early projects. Among one of the more fun games at the event was a 3D beat-em-up called Urban Warriors. The early version of the game that we got to play showed a lot of promise, given that it had only been in development for three months and it is being made from the ground up by one person.
Urban Warriors is heavily inspired by Dreamcast-era arcade games like Powerstone and Fighting Force. It takes a traditional old-school style brawler and turns it into a three-dimensional multiplayer game. When the game launches it will have a four-player arena mode, an arcade mode with four-player co-op, and versus mode. Urban Warriors has a lot coming together within three months. We can’t wait to see this game next year. It could be a nice couch co-op or online game with friends.
If you track upcoming indie games, Urban Warriors is going to be something you will want to follow as the developer expands the scope. You can find the team’s social media account here. Check back with LOGNET as well as we are sure to have more updates over the next year.
