How to Override Locks in Star Wars Outlaws
Star Wars Outlaws is finally in the hands of gamers. Well, at least to those who either bought the premium edition of the game or subscribed to Ubisoft+, but I digress. Regardless, players will likely encounter a pesky lock-picking mini-game. It might be a little challenging at first, but fret not, we’re here to help. Here’s how to override locks in Star Wars Outlaws.
Using the Data Spike to Override Locks in Star Wars Outlaws
Protagonist Kay Vess uses her handy dandy data spike to override locks, especially in rival faction territories. The whole mechanic is based on a rhythmic pattern. Listen carefully to the rhythm and press RT/R2 in sync with every beat. With time, overriding locks should become second nature.
Don’t worry if enemies are lurking around when you’re trying to data spike a lock. You can peek left and right with the left analog stick to get a view of your surroundings.
Accessibility Options Are Available
One thing that Ubisoft does well is accessibility options. If the overriding lock is proving challenging, Star Wars Outlaws offers players the option to adjust the difficulty by enabling the extra visual UI helper by pressing Y/Triangle. Moreover, you can also change the data spiking difficulty in the options menu. However, as of writing, it seems that the accessibility options for data spikes aren’t where they need to be.
And there you have it, data spiking is all about syncing the rhythm and pressing RT/R2. Be sure to check out Iron Lords Podcast’s final preview of Star Wars Outlaws here or the video below.
