The Lords were live at the Anime NYC Convention show floor. During the convention, Lord Sonic got a closer look at the recently revealed Starlight Re:Volver by Pahdo Labs.
Pahdo Labs describes the game as the following via the game’s Steam Page listing;
Dive into vibrant dream worlds, where every adventure brings you closer to Nishi stardom. Team up to unleash explosive combos and defeat powerful foes. Then, unwind in the lively city of NIM, where you can hang-out, craft, and relax with friends.
Demo Impressions
I was able to play an early demo of Starlight Re:Volver at Anime Expo NYC. The build at the booth was early, only featuring two playable characters. One focused on melee combat, while the other focused on ranged combat.
The game was only playable using a mouse and keyboard, with the game having a distinct Hades feel regarding character movement. Considering I’m more used to controllers, playing using a mouse and keyboard felt a bit awkward for my liking, but even despite that, I enjoyed how varied the two characters were.

While the demo only had a small section to fight a few enemies, the full game promises to feature proper dungeons and hubs to explore with up to four friends.
A major takeaway from the demo was the art direction specifically, with the colors popping off the screen, expressed with strong animation work and art direction that honored the game’s clear anime influence.
Developers Commentary
When speaking to the people at Starlight Re:Volvers’ booth, they didn’t have much to comment on. The game is still very early in development, running on Unity and currently targeting PC as its launch platform.
It was revealed that Starlight Re:Volver will be launching into Steam Early Access, though the release window is TBD as of this writing.
When speaking to the people running the booth, I couldn’t help but be impressed at the passion for Starlight Re:Volver. They were dressed in the style of the characters, showing how excited they were about the project. In addition, they were very friendly to me, sharing how much games like Hades and League of Legends were major inspirations for the project.
On the official Steam Page, they allude to some of the social elements that will be featured in the full game, stating the following;
When it’s time to rest, join the festivities in NIM, a bustling social hub supporting dozens of concurrent players, home to stargazing, fishing, crafting, and more.

Closing Thoughts
Overall, I enjoyed my time with the demo and speaking to some of the team present at Anime Expo NYC. More games like Hades are always welcome in my book. A strong art direction and promising gameplay make Starlight Re:Volver a game to look forward to.
You can wishlist it on Steam and follow the game’s Twitter/X page to learn more! Stay tuned for more Anime Expo NYC coverage at Lords of Gaming!
