Magic: The Gathering has long been celebrated for its ever‐expanding multiverse—a realm built on decades of intricate lore and innovative gameplay. Now, with the Universes Beyond initiative, Wizards of the Coast is inviting fans to experience an entirely new frontier: Final Fantasy. Scheduled to release on June 13, 2025, this set is designed to capture the nostalgia of 16 mainline Final Fantasy titles and introduce fresh mechanics and artwork that bridge two iconic worlds. So let’s talk about what we know is coming so far! **Prices Listes Are Pre-Sale Prices**

Each product is crafted to be a joy to play and a work of art to display, appealing both to longtime Magic players and fans of the Final Fantasy franchise. As a fan of the series and a Magic player, I will be buying many of these products.

Final Fantasy Play Boosters

Final Fantasy Play Boosters are sealed booster packs designed for everyday play. They’re crafted to help players build decks and experience the new mechanics and themes that bring Final Fantasy’s epic saga into the Magic multiverse, unlike Collector Boosters which cater more to collectors with extra foil treatments and art variants. Play Boosters focuses on providing a balanced mix of cards for competitive and casual gameplay. Each Play Booster contains 14 Magic: The Gathering cards and 1 Token/Ad card or Art card.

A regular Art card can be found in 30% of packs and a foil-stamped Signature Art card in 5% of packs. Every pack Includes 1–4 cards of rarity Rare or higher and 3–6 Uncommon, 6–9 Common, and 1 Land cards. One card of any rarity is Traditional Foil. The Land card is also Traditional Foil in 20% of boosters. If you want to buy a whole booster box it contains 30 Play Boosters, perfect for both Limited play and opening packs just for fun. MSRP for the Play Boosters is $6.99 while a whole box is floating around $187.70 on TCGplayer.

Final Fantasy Collector Boosters

Collector Boosters capture the essence of the Final Fantasy universe, featuring iconic characters and stunning card treatments. If you want to buy a whole box of the Collector Boosters it contains 12 Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Collector Boosters. Each pack includes 15 Magic: The Gathering cards. You can expect to see 8-12 cards are Traditional Foil cards with 0-3 of these cards may be Surge Foil. 5-6 cards will be rarity Rare or higher and 3-6 Uncommon cards. Then there will be 3-5 Common cards and 1 Land cards.

Collector Booster exclusive print treatment found in <1% of all language Collector Boosters. Finally, serialized cards are exclusively found within <0.1% of English language Collector Boosters. As you can guess from the description this is a premium product so the prices are higher than the other product. Right now a box of the Collector Boosters goes for $680.00 and packs are $56.79 right now. So if you are the premium collector then this could be for you.

Final Fantasy Commander Decks

These commander decks will feature popular characters from Final Fantasy 6, 7, 10, and 14. These iconic figures are Terra, Cloud, Tidus, and Y’shtola. Each deck will revolve around a single game, providing fans with a unique gameplay experience. The deck “Revival Trance” is a Red, White, and Black deck featuring Terra, Herald of Hope. Then the “Limit Break” deck is Red, Green, and White featuring Cloud, EX-Soldier. There is also a deck called “Counter Blitz” that is Green, White, and Blue featuring Tidus, Yuna’s Guardian. The 4th deck is called “Scions & Spellcraft” and it’s White, Blue, and Black featuring Y’shtola, Night’s Blessed.

These are pre-made decks with brand-new art for reprints and 25 new-to-Magic cards in each deck. Final Fantasy fans can experience the games featured for each deck in a whole new way. Contents include:

• 1 ready-to-play deck of 100 Magic cards (2 Traditional Foil Legendary cards, 98 non-foil cards)

Being a Final Fantasy X fan, you can believe I will be getting the Tidus decks or at least making a new deck around him. They do have regular versions of these decks which fetch a price around between $94.91 to $141.00 depending on which one you buy. The Terra deck is currently the lowest with Cloud’s deck being the most expensive. There are premium versions of these decks in “Surge Foil” with prices being $290.99 for the lowest and most expensive is $499.99.

Final Fantasy Pre-Release Pack

Pre-release is the grandest celebration of a set. I remember countless times going to midnight events until they adjusted the times. This is the community’s first opportunity to get their hands on the newest Magic: The Gathering release. Prerelease Packs are the perfect product to fuel the first events of a new set release, allowing players to explore what the set has to offer and giving them everything they need to make their first deck. These contents include:

• 6 Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY Play Boosters
• 1 foil, year-stamped Rare or Mythic Rare
• 1 deck box
• 1 Spindown die

Each Play Booster contains:
• 14 Magic: The Gathering cards
• 1-4 cards of rarity Rare or higher
• 3-6 Uncommon cards
• 6-9 Common cards
• 1 Land card (Traditional Foil Land replaces a Land in 20% of boosters)
• 1 card of any rarity is Traditional Foil; Foil Borderless Mythic Rare in 1% of boosters

These are usually something you get at a pre-release event and would build a deck from the contents and play in a tournament. However, you can buy these too, and they float around $68.26 right now.

Final Fantasy Starter Kit

If you are just looking for something to get started in the world of Final Fantasy and Magic The Gathering, then maybe you want a “Starter Kit.” With two ready-to-play, 60-card decks, the Starter Kit helps guide new players through their first game of Magic while allowing them to explore characters and moments from various Final Fantasy games. The themes for these decks are Cloud, Planet’s Champion, or Sephiroth, Planet’s Heir. These contents include:

• Two 60-card, ready-to-play Magic decks
• 2 Traditional Foil Mythic Rare cards (1 per deck)
• 2 Magic: The Gathering Arena code cards (1 per deck, only available in select regions)
• 2 deck boxes (1 per deck)
• 2 reference cards (1 per deck)
• 1 Play Guide booklet

You can pick up a starter kit currently for around $34.75. I recommend these for any Final Fantasy fans looking to learn and get into Magic The Gathering.

MSRPs

Now I know above I have mentioned the different prices. Things are different right now, because of pre-orders and they will for sure fluctuate after release. These are what the actual MSRP prices are supposed to be:

  • Play Booster: $6.99
  • Collector Booster: $37.99
  • Commander Deck: $69.99
  • Collector’s Edition Commander Deck: $149.99
  • Bundle: $69.99
  • Gift Bundle: $89.99
  • Starter Kit: $19.99

Final Thoughts

I have been a person that for a long time refused to buy Universe Beyond products for many reasons. As time has passed and more products come out they have weakened my resolve and that was when I bought a Fallout Commander deck. Now one of my favorite franchises is doing a crossover with my favorite TCG. So you can best believe Lord Chris will be diving into this world and acquiring a bunch of these products. At least a bunch of packs for sure. Let me know what you think of the Magic The Gathering Universe Beyond Final Fantasy Crossover!
