Soulframe Devstream 4 Breakdown
Earlier today, Digital Extremes had a Devstream dedicated to their work-in-progress MMORPG, Soulframe. In this devstream they went over some of the feedback they got from their recently released Preludes version. As well as some teases of what’s to come. From concept art for ancestors coming to the game, to an expansion to the island in game. Here is everything they talked about in Devstream 4.

Concepts and Feedback
They started the stream by going over multiple pieces of concept art for things to come. Some of the highlights included:
- A look at the next area for the upcoming Fable. A cleaved open tree with sap that was described to cause problems to those that consume it.
- A wraith-like enemy on a corrupted horse that does not belong to the Ode.

- When showing off one of the “Primordial Envoys” that is tied to the courage stat of the player.
- There is going to be a wandering ancestor that will offer a new Pact and playstyle. The design of the ancestor, Atajan, looked very unique.

- Concept art for a tree caretaker that was corrupted through multiple phases also got shared.
- Finally, a new sword was shown that apparently would transform into a fan during heavy attacks.
From there, they began playing the Orengall storyline from Preludes 8 while talking about the feedback they have gotten since that version released. Including lack of guidance, the mote system, – and the UI visibility (amongst other things). But the big-ticket item of the Soulframe devstream was Digital Extremes detailing what players can expect in the next version of Preludes.
Soulframe Preludes 9 Details
They started off with a shortlist before answering direct questions from the live stream chat. For starters, there will be 2 new factions coming to Soulframe, they will function similar to the Silent Rose that got added in Preludes 8. There will also be 3 paths for the player to choose from when they start the game. These paths include choices that may affect the outcome of story beats. Such as fixating on fighting the Ode, subverting them, or just focusing on healing the world.
“Mini adventures” are coming to the game as well. These will function like bounties from Warframe, with a Slay the Spire twist (no clarity was given on what the twist meant). They are also going to be looking into expanding the buildcrafting options for players – which will include accessories like amulets getting added to the game, amongst more mote options. To go alongside the expanding gameplay options for players, they will be removing the artificial walls around Midrath island – allowing more exploration. However, keep in mind that there might not be a whole lot to find.

Finally, Fen Jotarr, the Mote ancestor will be getting a Fire pact for players to choose from. As well as a cool new caster weapon that may just be a wrist cannon for more ranged gameplay options.
Devstream 4 Q&A Highlights
To close out the show they answered a lot of questions from the chat, here are some highlights from that session:
- They will be looking into the script for invites to Soulframe Preludes so players who signed up day one will be more likely to get chosen.
- There is still no news to break on console availability as Preludes is easier to update on PC (and there is a lot of work to do before they add the extra certification time into the equation).
- They are looking into improving distribution of weapon and armor fragments. The most likely outcome is that certain items will be more easily earned from specific factions instead of randomized.
- There will be more time and weather manipulation mechanics -like the Cloudfall Potion will be added into the game over time.
- Finally, they confirmed they are taking a look at the current FOV slider. The chat mentioned some players could experience motion sickness from the current slider.
But that wraps up the breakdown of Devstream 4 for Soulframe. If you would like to watch the full stream (for any minute details) you can find a link to it here.
