Warframe Devstream 184 Breakdown

7 minutes read

Digital Extremes had a stellar bookend to their 2024. As the release of Warframe: 1999 was met with overwhelming positivity from the community at large. But as they unwound over the holidays and started development back up in January – they were already cooking with fire and ready to show off so much to come with their next major update. Of course, while this next update is slated in March, there is still so much to enjoy before then. Devstream 184 was packed to the brim with what players can expect over the next month in Warframe.

A look back on Warframe in 2024

While today is the end of January, tomorrow starts a brand-new month for Warframe. In the Devstream they looked back on some funny bloopers during development of Warframe: 1999. Including a clip of a small headed drifter, Amir kissing an atomicycle and Arthur getting it on with a kubrow (no judging, please.) But with that little look back, they also announced that the Warframe year in review for players is now live. You can find a link for you and the communities stats here so you can remember 2024 even more fondly.

If you were also a fan of the Hex, you can join a giveaway to win one of two Xbox controllers. One being themed around Arthur, and the other being for Aoi – a link to that giveaway can be found here. The official Warframe wiki is now hosted by Digital Extremes. This allows community members to still find the information they need – you can find the new domain here.

Before they went onto what players can expect in the month ahead for Warframe. They went over the details regarding tickets for TennoCon 2025. This year, TennoCon 2025 is being hosted on July 18th to the 19th, and the tickets will go on sale on February 7th. Digital Tickets will go on sale at a later date, allowing you to own the annual digital pack. As well as gain access to Baro Ki’teer 2 weeklong relay stay. This year, there will be a special change of pace at TennoCon 2025. As there will be a concert held at a big stadium, appropriately named “TennoConcert”. You can find more details here.

From here they went over what players can expect to enjoy in February.

The Next Month of Warframe

Rhino’s Heirloom skin officially launches on February 6th. This addition will not remove Ember’s Heirloom skin from the market, however. Going along the new content on February 6th is the next Nightwave volume. This will include a host of new cosmetics, including a cool Atomicycle skin, Jillian and Lillian Killian floofs and a really cool Technocyte armor set. But that is not all, as the return of Star Days is also happening on February 6th, including new glyphs for the Hex.

While that already sounds like a trifecta of enjoyment, there is one more thing player’s can expect on the same day. That being the return of Belly of the Beast. Belly of the Beast is the event that launched with Jade Shadows last year. Allowing players to earn unique cosmetics, and even arcanes at an expedited rate.

While this all sounds like reruns, on February 12th, Lavos Prime is finally slithering into Warframe. He will come with the Cedo Prime and Dual Zoren Prime. As well as Prime accessories that include a Syandana and armor set.

But what about after February? What can players expect in March? Well, that is where the big update for Warframe: 1999 comes into play.

The Techrot Encore

Techrot Encore is going to be the second part of Warframe: 1999. Adding a whole slew of new content, and the long awaited Technocyte Coda or Infested Liches into the game. This update is bringing a whopping 17 new weapons into Warframe. These will include 10 upgraded Infested weapons through the Technocyte, alongside three brand new Infested weapons. The three new weapons include a new shotgun, pair of dual pistols and a new hammer. If you need a list of the 10 upgraded weapons, you can find those in our coverage of Devstream 182 here. The other 4 weapons will belong to the Scaldra, they will include a new pistol, rifle, grenade launcher and dual sickles.

Eleanor will be the vendor for the Technocyte Coda, and there will be a small twist around how the weapons work. Originally, Lich or Sister weapons will always have locked elements to them, and that will be true for these new weapons. But there will be a new consumable you can use to change the weapons locked element (after using 5 forma on it). This item will be earned from killing the Technocyte Coda, and speaking of them, they showed off the new mods you will need for them.

These mods will be earned from a specific bounty at the bounty board. The behavior system will be replaced with a potency and anti-virus system – allowing the fights against the Technocyte to have set rounds before the final showdown.

Finally, they talked about the romance system upgrades. You will be given more conversations overall, as well as ways to skip to choices in the conversation for expediency. Your partner in the backrooms will now be in different spots and not just by the couch.

Cosmetics, the 60th Warframe, and Quality of Changes

Before they ended the stream, they talked about a lot of new changes and cosmetics coming to the game. As well as the 60th warframe coming to the game, called Temple. Temple will be a guitar based warframe and was showcased with rock music accompanying it. More details will be shown at the next Devstream, but they were able to share the in-game model:

During the Technocyte Coda breakdown, they showed off some of the cosmetic rewards you can get. This included floofs for the human and infested version of the On-lyne boy band, and unique dance emotes for them. They also showed off a lot of new 1999-themed decorations, a lot being dedicated to dojos. Gyre deluxe was shown off alongside the Alternox deluxe skin for her. There are also Hex themed hairstyles, and Scaldra themed clothes for your Operator and Drifter.

Finally, there was a whole slew of quality-of-life changes coming to the game which include:

  • Defense missions waves will now be reduced to 3 instead of 5.
  • Non-exalted warframe weapons like Khoras whip will be moddable, and Exalted weapons will now have Arcane slots.
  • Aura forma will become Omni forma and grant universal polarity slots; however, this will not affect Umbral mods.
  • Rhino’s crafting time is being reduced to 24 hours, down from 72.
  • New players will now have 15 capacity on all warframes and weapons, allowing for mod usage early on.
  • You will be able to quick select duplicate mods in your foundry to dissolves or sell.
  • Warframe: 1999 will be replayable.
  • If you invited a friend to your party, and matchmade in public, you could now disband random players after the mission is complete.
  • 30 new riven slots are being given to all players.

But that is everything from Devstream 184. The stream went on for a little longer but gave everyone all of the information they needed. Including the next Devstream air date, that being February 28th. You can expect to learn more about Temple, the Ollie’s Crash Course mini game, and four new proto frames in that stream.

If you would like to watch the full Devstream, you can find a link to it on their official YouTube channel here.
