Earlier today, Digital Extremes hosted their recent devstream for Soulframe, their in-progress fantasy MMORPG. This devstream featured some very special guests, a group of chinchillas, ducks and rabbits that the dev team kept company all stream long. As for the stream itself, with the launch of Preludes version 9 going live yesterday – they went over some of the aftermath, detailed some of the changes and offered some information on the next Preludes update. From new pacts, a camel coming to a Nightfold Tent near you, and new corrupted enemies, here is everything from Devstream 6!
The Launch of Preludes 9
The stream started off with the team feeling excited that Preludes 9 finally launched. It is a massive update, as it tore down the walls around the slice of Midrath Island that players were locked into. This change also made it so you will have to find corrupted trees to cleanse to unveil the other parts of your map. They also reworked the stat system and assigned dedicated factions to the Courage, Spirit and Grace stats. Every faction will have their own leader, and missions to undertake. Each mission will give you reputation and also lead you towards weapons and armor specific to that faction.

Furthermore, they reworked the Bow to feel more like a true ranged weapon. They also removed the Idols, or ultimates from each Pact to be reworked into being legendary weapons you can earn in a later version of Soulframe. But to counterbalance this change, they also added a new fiery Pact, and a cool new ranged weapon that lets you channel lightning through wrist gauntlets.

More details on Preludes 9 can be found in their official patch notes here. But before they went over what to expect in Preludes version 10, they showed off concept art of some new enemies and a new Pact.
A New Pact, and a Camel Merchant?
They showed off concept for a Camel that is going to be appearing in your Nightfold Tent eventually. This Camel will apparently serve as a merchant, but not much more is known at this moment.

They also showed off new enemy types in the works. Such as a corrupted enemy that swings their sword and sheath like heavy blades. As well as a new knight that belongs to the Ode faction. Another caster weapon is getting added, that I am personally very excited for, a mage staff. There were also more hair options they showcased, and a new Pact. This Pact will belong to the ancestor “Atajan”, who was first seen in concept art with a giant circular blade around his body.

Before moving onto the details for Preludes 10, they did confirm a few things. For starters, while you will be locked into one faction right now, you will be able to change it soon. Finally, they confirmed that they will not reset your account again. However, you will be given that as an option if you so choose to.
