Wo Long Boss Guide – Lu Bu Horseback Strategy

Lu Bu is on horseback and is more deadly than ever. He is quick and will charge in attack and charge out. The best approach to him, while he’s on horseback, is to block his arrows and parry his advances on you with his spear. Do this and don’t really worry about fighting him just try and take as little damage as possible.

The attacks to look out for are his 2 unblockable attacks (the charge attack and the jump attack). Both unblockable attacks are your best bet to stagger Lu Bu off his horse. In particular, his charge attack animation begins when he starts spinning his spear around before he makes his move. While the jump attack begins when he jams his spear into the ground. However, you have to make sure you get the timing of both of these because you’ll do it a lot.

Wo Long Boss Guide – Lu Bu on Foot Strategy

After you stagger Lu Bu, he will fall off his horse. However, if you notice the horse will continue to run around in circles while you are fighting him. Pay attention to where it is at all times. Its best strategy is either to fight him in the center or on the edges of the area, where the horse cannot access.

The moment you knock Lu Bu off his horse, he will start his second phase. He will immediately unleash an unblockable jump attack. This is not hard to parry, just make sure to get the timing down. It’s important that you parry the majority of his unblockable attacks because he will ignite his spear on fire and the only way to put it out is to hit him with an ice-based spirit move or parry his next unblockable.

This fight is hard if you don’t at least parry some of his attacks. So even if you die, make sure to keep learning the timing of his unblockable attacks. Also, keep in mind you can block his basic attacks. Don’t force yourself to block every attack he unleashes. You might stand a better chance of beating Lu Bu if you just block his arrow attacks every time, regardless if you can parry them or not.

Try practicing parrying Lu Bu’s unblockable charge attack charge. And also it’s easier to dodge his unblockable frontal slash attack. I learned it was easier for you to leave this move alone and just dodge it when you see him do it.

Stagger Lu Bu as much as you possibly can without taking too much damage because he will jump back on his horse and you have to start the first phase again. Keep in mind when Lu Bu jumps on his horse for the second time, he normally shoots his bows twice and is more aggressive for the rest of the fight.

This fight is about endurance if the burn effect is bothering you a lot remember you can level up the water sign to reduce fire damage.

When to Heal

We know a fight gets difficult when we need to add in a healing section. Frankly, it’s hard to heal when he is on horseback. Almost every time you try to heal, he will unleash an unblockable and you have to parry it. When he is off his horse use your best judgment to determine when to heal. Though it was easier to heal right he shot some arrows at you.
