Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.13 Has Small Changes Before Championship

Patch 14.13 of Teamfight Tactics is now live. It is the penultimate patch of set 11, Inkborn Fables. This is the patch that the championships will be played on. As such, patch 14.13 is considered the last competitive patch of the set. Patch 14.14 will follow as more of a fun patch. According to Mortdog on his patch rundown, the meta is in a good place. As a result, there are not that many changes to note. Kai’Sa benefits from a champion buff and a trait buff, making her the big winner of the patch. There are also two system changes to note. Golden Removers now transform Item Removers into Reforgers. In addition, Prismatic Orbs will now drop more frequently, although they are still rare. Finally, there are some changes to Pengu’s Party, headlined by Yordle nerfs. These are among the biggest changes on patch 14.13 of Teamfight Tactics.

Kai’Sa

There are only a handful of changes to traits and champions. Kai’Sa is the only champion changed on the patch, receiving a buff. Her attack speed (AS) rises from 0.8 to 0.85. In addition to this direct buff, Kai’Sa also benefits from an Inkshadow trait buff. Inkshadow’s damage amplification and reduction is increased at the five and seven trait levels. For five Inkshadow, the increase is from 15% to 16%. For seven Inkshadow, the increase is from 20% to 22%. Team compositions involving Kai’Sa should thus be stronger. This includes Inkshadow as well as Trickshot, Kai’Sa’s other trait.

Other Trait Changes

Another trait receiving a buff is Sniper, which sees the patch 14.12 nerf reverted. The damage increase per hex at four and six increases from 17/33% to 18/35% respectively. As for nerfs, Fated sees both the Ahri and Syndra links nerfed slightly. Ahri’s ability power (AP) bonus falls from 30 to 27. Meanwhile, Syndra’s damage amplification bonus drops from 11% to 10%. Since just these two links are nerfed, all other Fated comps are relatively unchanged.

Golden Remover and Prismatic Orbs

Golden Removers now transform Item Removers into Reforgers. Image captured in game.

On the system side, there are two changes worth noting. First, Item Removers are no longer useless when obtaining a Golden Remover. When a player obtains a Golden Remover, all of their Item Removers become Reforgers. All future Item Removers will also become Reforgers. Getting an Item Remover when having a Golden Remover should now feel less bad. The other change worth noting is that Prismatic Orbs now drop more frequently. These orbs are incredibly rare by design. However, they have been a little too rare. Players now have a better chance of finding one, at least occasionally. These system changes should work together to bring players more enjoyment across many games.

Pengu’s Party Yordle Nerfs

The Yordle trait has been nerfed in Pengu’s Party, as has Veigar himself. Image captured in game.

Pengu’s Party, the game mode celebrating Teamfight Tactics 5th anniversary, also has balance changes. The biggest change is a nerf to the Yordle trait. Players will now need to get six three-star champions before Veigar begins to spawn. Previously, this number was five three-star champions. This should on average make it take significantly longer to start stacking Veigars. Veigar’s spell is now weaker at the one and two-star levels. One-star Viegar’s spell now does 270 damage, down from 300. Two-star Veigar’s spell now does 400 damage, down from 450. With these changes, players should obtain three-star Veigar less frequently. Until players hit three-star Veigar, he will do less damage on spell cast. This should hopefully make the Yordle trait less frustrating to play against. It should also help open up opportunities for other traits to shine. Coven, Imperial, Mascot, Socialite, and Trainer all receive buffs. There is also a bugfix to Nomsy, reducing burn damage from 2% to 1%.

Summary

With the end of set 11 fast approaching, there is little reason to make big changes. As such, patch 14.13 of Teamfight Tactics is relatively small. On the champion side, Kai’Sa is the big winner. She has been buffed directly, and her Inkshadow trait has been buffed as well. Sniper benefits from last patch’s nerf being reverted. Ahri and Syndra’s Fated links are weaker, but the rest of Fated remains unchanged. For system changes, the Golden Remover now turns Item Removers into Reforgers. In addition, Prismatic Orbs now drop more frequently, although they are still rare. Finally, there are various changes to the Pengu’s Party game mode. The most notable of these changes is a nerf to Yordle. It now takes longer to hit a three-star Veigar, and he is also weaker until he gets there.
