Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.12 Fixes Behemoth Trait Bug

Patch 14.12 of Teamfight Tactics is now live. According to Mortdog during his patch rundown, this is the third to last patch of Inkborn Fables. Patch 14.13 will be the patch the world championship will be played on. Patch 14.14 will be the final patch of Inkborn Fables. Because the set is nearing a close, patches will be on the lighter side. Patch 14.12 is thus not very big, but it is bigger than patch 14.11. One of the biggest changes is a bugfix to the Behemoth trait. With the trait finally working correctly, it is worth monitoring how strong it becomes. A second change to note is a level seven shop odds change. This change is actually a revert of a previous patch. Finally, patch 14.12 marks the launch of Teamfight Tactics: 5 Year Bash. This anniversary event celebrates five years of Teamfight Tactics. These are some of the most notable changes on patch 14.12 of Teamfight Tactics.

Behemoth Bugfix

One of the biggest changes on patch 14.12 of Teamfight Tactics is a bugfix to the Behemoth trait. When Behemoth champions die, the nearest Behemoth champion is supposed to gain armor and magic resist (MR). However, this was bugged to only work if there was a Behemoth champion within one hex. This made the Behemoth trait significantly weaker than it otherwise would have been. Patch 14.12 fixes this bug, so the trait should work properly. This will make Behemoth much stronger, although it is not clear exactly how much. This means that any comps using Behemoth as frontline are now stronger as well. It will be worth monitoring how the properly working Behemoth trait will affect things.

Level 7 Shop Odds Revert

Another change worth noting is a change to the level seven shop odds. Patch 14.8 changed the shop odds of level seven to make three-star three-cost champions harder to hit. Patch 14.12 undoes this change, reverting the odds back to their original distribution. Mortdog says that level seven is the intended place to roll for three-star three-cost champions, and the prior change to the level seven odds made it lose that identity. Now, level seven is once again the place to roll for those champions. With this change, three-star three-cost champions should now be more frequent in lobbies. This change should make a few three-cost reroll comps a bit more viable.

Patch 14.12 also marks the start of a huge celebration. Teamfight Tactics: 5 Year Bash is a large event celebrating the fifth anniversary of Teamfight Tactics. The centerpiece of the event is Pengu’s Party, a new game mode bringing back traits from all previous sets. There are also plenty of rewards for players to earn. There is a free battle pass, as well as a daily login bonus. Players can earn festive emotes, as well as a new Pengu Little Legend. Even some of the monsters are getting in on the festive atmosphere. The celebration lasts until the end of patch 14.14 on July 15th, 2024. This gives players plenty of time to celebrate five strong years of Teamfight Tactics.

Summary of Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.12

Patch 14.12 of Teamfight Tactics is not all that large. It does, however, bring several changes with the potential to shake things up. With the bugfix to the Behemoth trait, players can finally utilize those champions to their full potential. The change to the level seven shop odds might help some strategies that had fallen off a bit. The patch also marks the launch of the anniversary event. Players can have fun with the new game mode, while earning rewards for themselves. There are also other various buffs and nerfs to be aware of. The full patch notes can be found here.
