9 Essential Flintlock Tips for Beginners
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is finally out. We gave it a decent review, calling it a soulslike with trainer wheels. However, don’t expect it to be easy from the get-go. Here are 9 Flintlock tips that will enhance your experience and make your life easier.
Flintlock Tips – Be Careful when Choosing Difficulty
Despite its flaws, we commended the developers for creating an approachable soulslike game. However, though there are difficulty options available you better read the fine print. Found by our very own Cerebral Paul, the Story Mode difficulty will not trigger achievements. So if achievements are important to you, better stick with another difficulty setting.
Select Dynamic HUD for Immersion
Here’s one of the more underrated Flintlock tips, be sure to select Dynamic HUD for a more immersive experience. Dynamic HUD simply cleans up the UI a bit without hindering any key information. So, well worth the price of admission.
Flintlock Tips – The Pistol is the Ultimate Cheese
In our review of Flintlock, we noted that it’s very easy to become overpowered. A big part of that is the pistol. That is because it can interrupt any enemy attack, including unblockable attacks even from bosses. There is no penalty to use it, but every 4 melee hits regenerates one shot. So use it to your heart’s content.
Always Liberate Hamlets
One of the most important Flintlock tips you can take away involves Hamlets. They are towns that are taken over by enemies. You liberate these towns by defeating the local leader. By doing so, you gain an additional health flask, a shop/fast travel point, and new side quests. Liberating Hamlets is always a good idea and will make life easier for you.
Look for Blue and Red Beams in the Sky
One of the more useful Flintlock tips involves looking up at the sky. There are beams that can be seen from a distance that hint at important landmarks. Blue beams indicate that a lodestone (bonfire) is nearby. While a red beam means that an Inaya Shrines is close, which increases your maximum health.
You Can Pretty Much Triple Jump
If you need that extra bit of distance when jumping, you’ll be happy to know that you can pretty much triple jump. While mid-air press the jump button to double jump and follow up with the dodge button to cover that extra bit of distance.
Always Steady Aim with Your Primary Weapon
When you first receive your musket, you’ll notice it’s very difficult to aim, that is because you need to initialize steady aim. Pressing down on the right analog steadies your weapon. Make it a habit to always steady your aim so you land your shots. In addition, try to use primary weapons from afar before engaging enemies for some free open shots.
Flintlock Tips – Unlock the Shadow Partner Skill & Curse Siphon
Shadow Partner (3750 reputation) is a very useful skill to unlock. By syncing your attacks with Enki’s magic attacks will result in extra damage. While the Curse Siphon skill will slightly regenerate your health when you sync your attacks with Enki.
Poised Shot Does Wonders for the OP Build
The Poised Shot (5500 reputation) skill helps improve the already cheesy pistol attack. When interrupting enemies, Poised Shot will open up enemies to counterattacks. Needless to say, the skill will absolutely decimate enemies.
