The First Descendant Suffering Server Errors
The First Descendant launched yesterday. This is a new looter-shooter from the developers at Nexon Games. Development took place over multiple beta tests and delays. Subsequently, many fans looked forward to its launch as the game relies on a hero-based system through its gameplay. However, no one can enjoy the game amidst the endless emergency maintenance the developers have implemented.

Nexon Games handled several performance issues and bugs across platforms on launch day, July 2. Yet, the game remained playable. This gave many hope, myself included, that the game would dodge the live-service curse of server issues with any big launch.
However, Xbox players began to report server issues along with being unable to play across the platform. Nexon Games looked into it and finally found a cause. This cause was not on their end but reportedly on Microsoft’s.
This led to instability across PC and PlayStation platforms as well. Nexon Games implemented a fix for The First Descendent around 3 pm EDT today. They reported there would still be some instability for Xbox users; however, all platforms were available.
This false sense of safety lasted for about an hour before players across all platforms were kicked once again. Consequently, the developers closed the servers for maintenance. No other updates have been issued from them at the time of this writing. These issues come at an especially inopportune time for players in the West preparing to stay in for their holiday. Hopefully, The First Descendant will come back online sooner rather than later.
