Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.16 Nerfs Syndra
Patch 14.16 of Teamfight Tactics is now live. This is the first patch for set 12, Teamfight Tactics: Magic n’ Mayhem. Not surprisingly, patch 14.16 is headlined by nerfs to Syndra. In addition, the patch buffs both the Faerie and Warrior traits. This could help Katarina, who has both traits and is also buffed by the patch. These are some of the biggest changes on patch 14.16 of Teamfight Tactics.
Syndra Nerfs in Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.16
Unquestionably, the headline of patch 14.16 is the nerfs to Syndra. Syndra had gotten out of control, completely warping the meta. To combat this, patch 14.16 nerfs her in multiple ways. Firstly, her spell cast time is increased to 1 second from .3 seconds. According to Mortdog in his patch rundown, this puts her in line with the other champions in the game. This should lead to fewer casts per fight, and make attack speed items less ideal on her.
Secondly, her spell is being nerfed directly. The patch reduces her spell’s damage and splash damage at all levels. Syndra’s spell’s damage becomes 205/310/480% ability power (AP), down from 225/340/520% AP. Her spell’s splash damage is now 100/150/235% AP, down from 110/170/260% AP. Syndra’s bonus rift damage is now lower as well, at 30% instead of 35%. These changes should work together to weaken Syndra’s grip on the meta.
Faerie, Warrior, and Katarina
Another significant change on patch 14.16 is buffs to both the Faerie and Warrior traits. Faerie gets a buff to both items, Crown and Queenguard’s Armor. The Crown gets increased damage amp at the four and six trait levels, to 40/45% from 35/40%. The Queenguard’s armor gains healing/shielding power, health, and healing from damage done by the Queen. These numbers go from 30% to 35% healing/shielding power, 100 to 150 health, and 12% to 15% Queen’s damage healing.
Warrior, meanwhile, sees an increase to both the damage amp and omnivamp at the four and six trait levels. The Warrior trait’s damage amp is now 20/30% at the 4/6 trait levels, up from 18/25%. The Warrior trait’s omnivamp benefits from the same bonus, to 20/30% from 18/25%.
While these buffs should help both traits, there is one champion who benefits most. Katarina has both the Faerie and Warrior traits and is receiving a buff of her own. Katarina’s spell now does 175/260/420% AP, up from 160/240/365% AP. Katarina was considered one of the worst champions at launch. With a buff to herself as well as both of her traits, Katarina could see a significant upswing.
Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.16 Summary
Patch 14.16 of Teamfight Tactics looks to help the meta by nerfing the strongest champion. This should hopefully give other comps more room to breathe. Among the many various changes on the patch, Katarina could be a big winner. The patch buffs both of her traits, as well as gives her a buff directly. There are many other changes worth noting, which players can find here.
