The Lords’ Most Anticipated Games: September 2024
So Many Games, So Little Time
The month of September kicks off what will be a very crowded holiday gaming season. (Author note: Really it starts on August 30th with Star Wars: Outlaws. Pew Pew) With over 50 titles dropping across all platforms in September alone, what are some of the Lords of Gaming staff’s most anticipated new releases?
Joe Repko, Editor
In this month alone, almost too many games are coming and it feels like so much will get lost in the fold. So, with that in mind, I’d love to put the spotlight on Satisfactory by Coffee Stain Studios. It is such a unique and niche title, but it has such a large fanbase and dedicated developers. It is a beautiful factory sim and has fantastic first-person shooting and action gameplay with awesome alien designs and a massive open world that can be your foundation for the factory of your dreams.
Satisfactory drops on September 10 and you can get it via Steam or Epic

September is often the beginning of the hectic holiday period for video games. But my most anticipated game for the month of September has to be Age of Mythology Retold. As an older gamer myself, I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve spent building up cities and armies from the ancient Egyptian world. With AoMR, it’ll be a trip down nostalgia lane but wrapped in a prettier bow with some QoL features thrown into the mix. From raising armies to building magnificent cities, Age of Mythology was always cast in the shadow of its more renowned Age of Empires‘ cousin. However, the magical element is what sets it apart and gives its own unique identity.

I’m excited for many but one I’ll mention specifically is Age of Mythology: Retold. Not only do I love turn-based games but I love RTS games with Command & Conquer being one of my favorite series ever. Age of Mythology has a special feel with all the Greek Mythology and everything it offers. So I’m looking forward to diving into this one and many more once they are released!
Age of Mythology Retold goes live on September 10 and you can get it on Xbox Console or PC on Gamepass or via Steam.

There’s a wide variety of games launching in September. Everything from sequels to remasters/remakes and new IPs, but I’ll be keeping an eye on two specific releases. The first is The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. We’re going back to top-down gameplay but with a twist. We finally get to play as the princess of the kingdom of Hyrule, Zelda!
This Switch title launches on September 26th and is published by Nintendo!
The second release worth keeping a keen eye on is Ara: History Untold! Ara is a grand strategy game developed by Oxide Games and published by Xbox Game Studios! Oxide Games is made up of former Civilization devs who are developing this game using their proprietary engine called the Nitrous engine.
This title is slated for September 24th and it’ll initially launch on Windows, PC Game Pass, and Steam! A console release will be coming down the line.

Regarding upcoming releases in September, my most anticipated would be the DLC for Persona 3 Reload. This is titled “Episode Aigis – The Answer”. This content acts as an epilogue and could have originally been experienced in the FES release of Persona 3 back on the PlayStation 2. I never got to play it since Persona was unknown to me then. After playing through the series, I am always looking for an excuse to jump back in. I can’t wait for the great cast and music to hook me once more. I plan to play through the DLC and then clean up the few trophies I am missing to get the platinum on PlayStation 5.
Episode Aigis – The Answer is the third and final addition that was part of the Expansion Pass and will go live September 10th on PlayStation 4,5, Xbox (Free with Ultimate), and Steam

One game I’m excited about for the month of August is an indie project called ‘Akimbot’. As a huge fan of games like Ratchet & Clank, seeing a smaller team tackle that style of platformer is very exciting.
Akimbot is slated for September 28th and it launches on Xbox, Playstation, and Steam!

My most anticipated game for September is the long-awaited Starfield DLC, Shattered Space. It was one of my favorite games of 2023, and with a 60 FPS patch, an addition of ground vehicles, and a year under its belt, there is no better time to jump back into Bethesda’s most recent RPG.
You can start traveling in Shattered Space on September 30th.

The game I am most looking forward to is Football Manager 2025. Keeping track of player progression, while also satisfying the board and fans on the pitch is one of my favorite challenges in this annually-released title. An improvement I hope to see is better behavior reactions from the media and external boards to your success or failure at other clubs. Lastly, it has to be the tactics, how many times will I get fired before I figure out how to implement the 3-4-3 formation this year?
Football Manager 25 release date has not been confirmed but is rumored to be anywhere from late September to early November.

Of all the games coming in September, many of which I will be playing, the one I am most anticipating is Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Early access for those who pre-order their copy will open on September 5th and officially launch on September 9th.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is available on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
What to play?
There are so many great games coming out that it was hard for many of us to pick just one. The rollout of new games will only get more frantic from here on out.
Let us know what games you’re looking forward to in September!
