My 2025 New Years Gaming Resolutions
I always enjoy writing these unique pieces and this one is no different. Now we all know someone who is like it’s a new year, a new me. Then they make some New Year resolutions like going to the gym more, eating healthier, improving their life, or being better in a way. Sometimes people are successful in these changes, but a lot of the time they last for a few weeks then things fall off. Instead, I’ll talk about my few 2025 New Year’s Gaming resolutions. So let’s get into it!
Finishing What I Start
Kicking off my resolutions is I think one of the ones I fail at the most. So this year I want to finish the games I start before I move on to something else. For example, I recently purchased Fantasian Neo Dimension and I think it’s an awesome game I enjoy. However, even though I was playing it consistently and had over 24 hours into it, I stopped and went back to playing Elder Scrolls Online. Normally that wouldn’t be a bad thing, because most people play multiple games at once.
I personally have a problem taking a break to play something else, and then I forget I even have the previous game. So with that being said I am going to start there with Fantasian Neo Dimension and then I will move on to another game I bought which was Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. So I want to finish more games before I move on to a different game.
Out Of My Comfort Zone
If anyone knows me they know how much I love the JRPG genre and enjoy other genres as well. However, there are two styles/genres of games I haven’t played much or talked about at all. Those are survival/creative-style games, such as Fallout 76, Minecraft, and Palworld. Then the other style that I can’t remember if I have ever even played one is Souls-like games. I know all these games can be a blast to play alone or even with friends, but I have never really gone outside my comfort zone to give them a fair shot. I never really tapped into my creativity for Minecraft and Fallout 76’s of the world.
I literally have multiple friends that have tried to convince me and I just wasn’t having it. These are friends that have created stuff like the entirety of Middle Earth, Hogwarts, or even cities from Forgotten Realms which all looked spectacular. Then you have Souls-like games which some people assume would be the difficulty that steers me away. I am going to be honest here and say I don’t have any idea why I haven’t given them the chance. Difficult games don’t bother me in the slightest so I don’t have a clear answer. However, I’ve watched people play games like the critically acclaimed Elden Ring and think to myself why haven’t I played this? Well in 2025 I will branch out more into other genres instead of my usual norms.
Expanding My Horizons
When it comes to expanding my horizons there are a couple of things I can do better. For example, one thing I find lacking a bit on our site that we can improve on is more Nintendo content. Now in the past, I have tried to offset this with the monthly Pokemon Battle Team articles which I have gotten away from as they do require more work than normal articles. Even recently I reviewed a Goblin Slayer game on the Nintendo Switch. So we do have some, but we could do more.
Another area where I can expand on is actual video interviews or video-based content. Now I have done some interviews, but they are usually non-video ones. Although I have been involved in multiple Pax East video interviews. This is more so nerves take hold at first, but once they get going it’s nothing. I have been on multiple podcasts or been interviewed and even inducted into the Sportzwire Radio Hall of Fame twice. So it’s all about getting over that first hurdle and I feel I could do some excellent interviews and video-based content. I used to stream a lot on Twitch some years ago.
Being The Tabletop and VR Guy
I really couldn’t figure out how to title this one, but one thing I was striving for was to shine some light on tabletop gaming and VR/AR/MR gaming. If you remember the content I had put out I was talking periodically about Magic The Gathering and then kind of nothing, just a few pieces. Magic is just one of the many ways to tabletop games. There are other TCGs, Board Games, and even stuff like Dungeons & Dragons. For some reason, I lost focus on the mission to help shine some light on these because they count as gaming too, so I want to do better there. Maybe, even catch some in-person TCG or Board Game-style content.
When it comes to VR/AR/MR gaming it was more of a mental thing. I love the VR style of gaming, especially with games such as Demeo! It got to a point where I felt like developers only knew me as the VR guy and not as an overall gaming writer at the time. There was even a month when I reviewed 3 VR games back to back. However, I wanted to be something bigger than just being known as the “Chris from LOGNET the VR Guy.” Maybe that wasn’t the case, but that. Now, I’m the Community Manager and have learned a lot since I thought those thoughts, and now welcome anything and everything my way.
Final Thoughts
When it comes to my New Year’s Gaming Resolutions for 2025, I believe I have what it takes to accomplish them. I’ve learned a lot in the past couple of years since I joined the team, and everyone always has room for improvement in some way. So 2025 I gonna work hard to accomplish these, and then at the end of the year, we will revisit and see how successful I was. What are your gaming resolutions? Let me know what they are!
