During Sony’s June Future of Gaming digital event, the company showed off a substantial line of accessories for the PS5. However, this raised questions whether PlayStation 4 peripherals will be compatible with the PS5.
Sony announced which PS4 accessories are compatible with their upcoming PS5 via their official blog. As expected, the DualShock 4 will not be compatible with PS5 games since the Dualsense represents a generational break. However, players can use DS4 for playing PlayStation 4 titles on the PS5.
Specialty accessories such as officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks, and flight sticks will work on the PlayStation 5. Sony confirmed that these accessories will work across PS5 and PS4 titles.
In the audio department, Sony is keeping compatibility in check. The first-party Platinum and Gold Wireless headsets will be compatible with the PlayStation 5. While third-party headsets that connect via USB port or audio jack will work on PS5.
Lastly, looks like VR accessories made the cut. Both PS Move Motion Controllers and PS VR Aim Controller will work with supported PS VR titles on PlayStation 5. Also, the PlayStation Camera will also be compatible with the PS5 for supported PS VR games.
