During PlayStation’s State of Play yesterday, a new gameplay trailer for Wayfinder from Airship Syndicate dropped. Where they showed off a new biome, and boss for the game. As well as gameplay details revolving around their characters and world. It was also during this State of Play that they announced the upcoming closed beta for the game. This closed beta will take place on the 28th of this month, and end on the 6th of next month. This will allow players on the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms to play the game for quite a lengthy period with crossplay enabled.
This is all great news for fans who eagerly await the game’s early access launch in May of this year. To go alongside this great news, Airship Syndicate posted a news blog about the “Near Future of Wayfinder“. As such, here is everything you need to know about the news in that blog post.
The Wayfinder Business Model
For starters, Wayfinder will be a free-to-play title when it releases to the public. There has been confirmation in this blog post that the game will feature seasonal content. Similar to the vast majority of free-to-play titles.
We will be releasing content in seasons beginning in Early Access, which will contain two separate seasons. Each season will last approximately three months. Each Season will include a brand new character as well as their signature weapon.
Not only will new Wayfinders and their weapons be available with each Season. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore new events sprawling across the Highlands and other open-world environments, overcome new challenges in Lost Zone expeditions, collect and craft new accessories and echoes, face dangerous new foes in every corner of The Gloom and immerse yourself in a rich story between characters and players alike!
Do keep in mind that this will be a player-vs-environment style of game. Similar to Digital Extremes’ marque title Warframe. As of right now, there are no details on whether or not the game will feature a battle pass similar to other games in the free-to-play market.
Work in Progress Founders Pack Details
All new service-style games feature their own founder’s pack for supporters of the title to invest in the title early and earn exclusive content for themselves. Here are the details from the Wayfinder blog post:
The Founder’s Packs are our way of putting together the final pieces of the game in place in cooperation with our most dedicated supporters! We want to reward these Wayfinders not only with Early Access to the game, but also with unique and valuable items that will never be able to be obtainable outside these packs. Multiple tiers will be available allowing player choice, as well as upgrades. Each tier includes awesome and exclusive items such as cosmetics, pets, mounts and more, check out the preview below.

The “Preview Below”
The founder’s pack will be arriving in the early access release in May. It was also detailed that when Wayfinder launches in early access, there will be no erasure of progress moving forward. Meaning that progress made in the upcoming will be the last time progress is lost.
