Importance of this Re-Release

SEGA has had a very successful 2024, with major releases like Sonic X Shadow Generations, Persona 3: Reload, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and Metaphor: ReFantazio leading the charge. But they have been giving the limelight on their other franchises too.

The ‘Super Game’, composed of remakes of series like Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Crazy Taxi, and Shinboi, is a major example. That being said, other SEGA franchises have also been given a second chance.

Virtua Fighter is an important franchise in the fighting game genre. It was the ‘big’ game to elevate visual fidelity before games like Tekken and Soul Calibur carried on where they left off. So SEGA putting on the boxing gloves and entering the ring once more with a re-release of the latest installment implies interest in a new installment.

Closing Thoughts

I love SEGA and its many IPs, so seeing any of them come back is fantastic. Hopefully, this re-release will not only find its way on PC but also on Xbox and Nintendo platforms in the future.
