Warframe Devstream 197 Breakdown

Rise and shine, Tenno! Digital Extremes recently wrapped up their live Devstream from Seoul, South Korea. This devstream focused on a wealth of new content coming to Warframe, with some Soulframe content shown as well. In this devstream, we learned pretty much everything there is to know about the upcoming update, Iceblade of Narin, including an event that will bridge the gap to Tau at the end of the year. Here is everything we learned from Devstream 197!

Everything from Devstream 197 for Warframe

They started the Devstream with the news that Warframe will be launching on the Samsung Galaxy Store on Android devices on September 23rd. Anyone who plays it there at launch will be given a new free color palette and an ephemera.

Members of the Soulframe team, including the Creative Director himself, were present during the stream to talk about the next major update for the preludes pre-alpha program. This update will include:

  • Bonding with the player’s puppy. How you bond with it will shape how its adult form functions in-game.
  • Fishing, as shown at TennoCon 2026.
  • Manual temper modifications for weapons.
  • Combat feeling less “magnetic,” with improvements to the parry system.

This update will be called “Of Hook and Hound” and will be launching later in the month. From here, they focused on content coming to Warframe over the next few months (no, really!)

A Tau-Themed Event in October

The first bit of content shown was “Epoch Operation: Taubound”. This operation will take players to a new hub on Praghasa from The New War in preparation for going to Tau. The event will launch on October 15th and will feature gameplay for the Vessels, the giant white golems from Whispers in the Walls.

While the event will start on October 15th, there will be a prologue quest that will stay in-game permanently. Players participating in the event will need to “feed” Praghasa with other players. More details on the event will be shared at a later date.

This update will be coming shortly after Iceblade of Narin, which will be arriving in just a few short weeks. Here is everything it will include!

Iceblade of Narin Arrives September 23rd

Iceblade of Narin will feature a new player hub at the Yuvan Peak from The War Within. This area is now covered in Zariman posters, and icy swaths around the cliffside. Yuvan Peak will now have a pedastal for Cephalon Malica from the Zariman. She will act as the new vendor for the new game modes coming in this update. The main game mode that will give you the currency for Narin, and her weapons was not talked about. But they did go over a new 6-player activity coming to Warframe.

Glacial Defiance will allow 6 players to take on challenging activities deep within the depths of the Zariman. They did not go over what all entails in the activity, but you can play it 3 times a week for chances at unique loot from it. The main activity that will be tied to earning Narin and her weapons will feature a new eximus unit they did not show off that will drop a special resource to buy her from Malica. Speaking of Narin and her weapons, however…

Details on Narin and Her Weapons

During the Devstream, they showed off a stunning trailer that featured Narin and all of her glory. For fans of Limbo, she will be a new top hat wearing frame with a special rapier and area-of-effect abilities.

In the Devstream they went into thorough detail on Narin and how she will work. Below will be a small breakdown of her abilities, as outlined by Pablo Alonso during the Devstream:

  • Her passive grants a chance to drop frost ammo boxes when killing enemies affected by frost.
  • Narin’s first ability will cast icy swords at foes that freeze enemies.
  • Her second ability will call back those swords for Overguard.
  • The third ability will send her flying into the sky with an area-of-effect around her and will let players crash down with her as they see fit.
  • Finally, her fourth ability marks enemies with icy swords that deal massive damage as she swings waves from it.

Her signature weapons will be a bow and pair of akimbo pistols. The bow, Nunchasa, will have an alternate fire that fires out a charged arrow that leaves behind an icy trail. With the pistols, Aksondol, creating a frosty area around the player when they reload. They also showed off the banshee rework, along with Citrine prime and the new deluxe skins coming in the update.

Details on the Banshee Rework

In Iceblade of Narin, Banshee will be getting a new rework. This rework is not massive, but will make her more viable in Warframe overall:

  • Banshee’s first ability now strips armor and can be cast while moving.
  • The ability adds puncture to enemies to weaken their damage output.
  • Her third ability makes the weakpoints function like headshots. This means you will be able to charge incarnon weapons by firing at them. It will also be recastable as well.
  • Finally, her fourth ability no longer roots Banshee in place, allowing her to move while the ability is cast.

For the first 2 weeks of the update, Banshee will be given out for free with a free forma as well. Below will be Pablo’s breakdown of it during the Devstream!

They also showed off Citrine Prime during the Devstream. She is launching with the update on September 23rd and will come with the Steflos and Corufell Prime. Her accessories will be a new syandana and head accessories for the Operator/Drifter.

Finally, they showed off both of the deluxe skins coming in the update for Banshee and Qorvex. Qorvex’s shined in the devstream due to the flying concrete bats. There will be 5 new Tennogen items coming. This includes two new signas, a new syandana, citrine helmet and a skin for Jade.

To cap off the devstream, they briefly went over the quality-of-life coming in Iceblade of Narin. Featuring the expansion to the Riven system, how Deep Archimedia and Temporal Archimedea are being improved. As well as changes to how hair and metal color being seen in game. But they also left off a brief tease for the end of next month where they will be hosting their first Devstream focused on Tau. This stream will be on October 30th, giving them plenty of time to cook up what all will be shown.
