The summer gaming conference and convention season is in full force. Although the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was officially cancelled this year, plenty of other showcases are quickly filling the void. Geoff Keighley, the showrunner of The Game Awards, is leading the pack with his Summer Game Fest showcase, which includes over two hours of game announcements. Among those announcements was Spider-Man 2’s release date: October 20th, 2023.

Insomniac Games Has a Launch Date

Last month’s PlayStation Showcase’s closer, Spider-Man 2, will avoid a stacked September, and instead release in October. We got concept art for two major fights. First was the web-slingers facing Kraven the Hunter and his crew. Next was a two-on-one fight with Venom.

Notably, Insomniac Creative Director Bryan Inithar noted something new about Venom. Eddie Brock won’t be the symbiotic beast. Historically, Eddie Brock takes the remnants of the Black Symbiote Suit after Peter frees himself from it. Inithar did not confirm who the new Venom would be.

Additionally, we got a first look at Spider-Man 2’s Collector’s Edition, which features special suits, a new gadget, and a statue of both Miles and Peter fighting Venom.

Spider-Man Continues to Dominate Media

Marvel’s famed superhero is back in the spotlight. In addition to the upcoming PS5 title, Sony Animation’s Across the Spider-Verse released last week. Across the Spider-Verse follows Miles Morales, a year after the events of Into the Spider-Verse. The film has earned rave reviews and box office rewards.
