Warframe: Koumei and The Five Fates Release Date Announced

Tonight, during Tokyo Game Show 2024, Digital Extremes hosted their latest Devstream with a live audience. Showcasing a whole slew new and upcoming content for their marque title, Warframe. Devstream 181 was home to a lot of awesome news, mainly for the upcoming Koumei and The Five Fates update. Including its release date of Wednesday, October 2nd. They also showed off her abilities, and her signature weapons. Here is everything you need to know about the update!

Meet Koumei, the 58th Warframe

Koumei will be a dice maiden themed warframe, with a unique kit of abilities reliant on dice rolls:

• Her passive “Shadows Trinity” will allow her weapons to deal a random status effect for a short time after rolling triple 6’s.
• Her first ability “Kumihimo” will layout threads around the battlefield that will inflict random status effects on foes. If you roll triple 6’s, foes will suffer one of each status effect.
• Her second ability “Omikuji” will give you a random challenge to complete. When you complete this challenge, a decree from Duviri can be chosen. If you roll triple 6’s, the decree is free of any challenge.
• Her third ability “Omamori” will shroud Koumei in charms that can sometimes absorb damage from a foe to heal her instead. If you roll triple 6’s, you will be given invulnerability for the duration of the ability.
• Her final ability “Bunraku” will string up enemies and inflict a status effect on them depending on what number your dice roll gives you. If you roll triple 6’s, foes will be given the maximum number of status effects and enemies behind Koumei will be strung up as well.

Koumei will roll her dice on every ability cast, leaving a lot of buffs up to RNG.

Koumei’s Signature Weapons

Her signature weapons include a slick Gunbrella that has a unique shield that pops up when you aim down sights to protect you called “Higasa”.

Higasa will primarily have a burst fire that will charge up an alternate fire. Its alternate fire will channel a beam at foe before dealing a burst of damage. Koumei will also come with a Naginata inspired polearm called “Amanata”.

The Amanata will randomly give buffs to itself after a certain number of swings, and if Koumei rolls triple 6’s, the Amanata will benefit from every buff at once. Both Higasa and Amanata will come with augments you can earn from Steel Path. The augments will give stat buffs and allow for more status effect infliction.

But this is when you can expect Koumei to arrive, how she plays, and what her signature weapons are. For how you can obtain her, and her weapons, there will be a new game mode arriving in Koumei and the Five Fates in Warframe called Shrine Defense. This mode will be endless and wave based but will feature a new mini boss called the Oni Carnis that pops up during the mission. Koumei’s parts and her weapon blueprints will have a chance to drop in this new game mode. Coming with this update also are incarnon adapters for the following weapons:

• Cestra
• Dera
• Okina
• Sicarus
• Sybaris

These incarnon adapters will also work for their upgraded Prime, and Vandal variants.

Koumei and The Five Fates will include a whole slew of quality-of-life changes, including the second part of the companion’s rework. As well as changes to the new player experience. More details can be found here.
