5 Warframes in Need of a Rework

In Koumei and The Five Fates, there was a round of reworks that came to a few warframes in Warframe. Caliban obviously needed the love, and the small touch up to Hildryn has been really positively received by the community. But one rework that came in the update that raised eyebrows was the one for Nova. Nova has been a fundamentally solid warframe ever since she arrived in the game, and improving upon perfection seemed impossible. That is when I began thinking to myself, with the upcoming Trinity and Nyx reworks coming in Warframe: 1999. What other warframes should get the rework treatment afterwards even if it is just a “light rework” similar to Trinity and Nyx?

Chroma

While Chroma as a warframe has received numerous touches over the years. His ability kit feels like it can only go in or two ways. Either stack your chips into an Effigy and Spectral Scream build for little effectiveness in most combat scenarios. Or go with a Vex Armor and Elemental Ward build that requires figuring out what element to assign to your build.

I feel as though Effigy, Spectral Scream and Elemental Ward need a form of synergy that allows for Vex Armor to be one reason to use Chroma, and not just the only reason in most scenarios in Warframe.

Oberon

To put it politely, Oberon has fallen off significantly over the years. His Hallowed Ground and Renewal synergy can still be great in most scenarios, but the constant energy drain from Renewal gets in the way of using Smite, and even Reckoning. Those last two abilities could use some baseline changes. As the crowd control angle is easily outclassed by other warframes for Reckoning. With Smite not having enough usability outside of synergy with the augment.

Considering Oberon has been moved to Railjack missions, his viability does not justify the time and dedication needed to earn him.

Rhino

Rhino’s Roar, and Iron Skin are simple and effective. But both Stomp and Rhino Charge need some love. Rhino Charge feels useless in most cases, and Stomp is great at times, but I feel like the Rhino Charge should emit a similar effect to Stomp. Knocking down enemies only offers a brief respite but launching them in the air could offer more to not only solo play, but to the squad as a whole. With that in mind, Stomp would need an entirely new utility to offset redundancy.

Rhino is more of a starter warframe, and a very good one at that. With a lot of viability in the endgame, but I feel like he could offer a lot more than he already does.

Loki

When it comes to Loki, his first ability is good enough as is, but I feel as though the Decoy could benefit from having a dodge chance like Xaku’s Vast Untime ability. But his Invisibility could really benefit from being recast-able or a channeled ability similar to Ivara’s Prowl and having a way of preventing detection when touching security lasers in Spy/Rescue missions. The Switch Teleport ability is good for a few instances, but it feels very niche and aimed at solo play. Finally, the Radial Disarm could benefit from adding Radiation to enemies, so they not only lose their ability to use firearms but start attacking each other as well.

Loki has been in the game for a long time, but his usability in most activities feels very rare in comparison to most other warframes.

Ash

To start with Ash, his Shuriken could really benefit from a similar usability like Dagaths Wyrd Scythes. Smoke Screen is great but could be recast-able as well. But Teleport could have more of a use case outside of killing annoying Eximus units after you break their overguard. With Bladestorm possibly going to an area-of-effect cast or scan system similar to Dante’s Final Verse. The subtle synergy between Smoke Screen and Bladestorm could really bring him back to the limelight with that alteration.

When it comes to the above warframe’s and the problems with their kit in the modern day of Warframe. I know offering direct solutions can feel a bit on the nose. But as someone who has paid attention to the most recent reworks, I can usually see some of the easiest changes while being clueless to some of the harder ones.

At the end of the day, all of these warframe’s are still very much used, but if Nova can get some love. Why not a handful of others that feel user-used by the community?
