The Lords’ Most Anticipated Games: December 2024
‘Tis The Season To Rejoice!
It’s the holiday season! Gamers are getting some GREAT gifts to close off 2024. Here is what some of us here at Lords of Gaming are looking forward to unwrapping during December.

Though this game is appearing again on my most anticipated list, it’s not my fault that it was delayed. But here we are again. Once again, my most anticipated game for December is Path of Exile 2. I did like the changes I saw Path of Exile 2 is going implement, especially the class system and the graphical update. This should help open up the game in hopefully a meaningful way once it launches on December 6.
No doubt Grinding Gears Games have supported PoE for years and have done a tremendous job of creating hundreds of hours worth of content. Their passion and determination are impeccable and I look forward to the next chapter in Path of Exiles 2. (You can watch our discussion with the developers HERE)
Path of Exile 2 early access opens December 6 on Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

When it comes to December game releases this year one game I’m kind of interested in is Fairy Tail 2. Based on popular anime, I’m always looking for a good adaptation into video game form. It features a unique story that can only be experienced through the game and it’s in RPG form. Real-time fights with a “Break Gauge” system seem to keep combat intense with no downtime. Then you have the beautiful and colorful 3D world that looks to keep Fairy Tail fans wanting to see more. Hopefully, this game can give me the video game adaptation of an anime I’ve been waiting for!
Fairy Tail 2 drops on Steam on December 11th, and on PlayStation and Switch on December 13th.

Even though the year is almost over, the month of December has some surprise gems alongside Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, something I’m sure I and many others at Lords of Gaming are looking forward to. But a game I want to highlight is Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1+2 Remastered.
As someone who is a huge fan of the PS1 era of gaming, both Soul Reaver 1 & 2 are classics, melding the writing chops of Uncharted‘s Amy Henning and Zelda-esc exploration. With updated visuals and other quality-of-life additions, this collection will be a fantastic way to end the year for me.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered releases on Dec. 10, 2024, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam.

My most anticipated game for December has to be Fantasian Neo Dimension. I played about five hours of Fantasian on Apple Arcade back in 2021 and really enjoyed the story, characters, and combat, but I did not like playing it on my iPhone. Now that Square Enix is giving it a full release on consoles I can’t wait to jump in. The handmade diorama environments in Fantasian are beautiful and it’s such a unique marriage of video games and art. With Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu, and Square Enix coming together for this release, it feels like we’re getting a classic Final Fantasy experience in a brand-new game.

When it comes to something anyone, nay everyone should be looking forward to. It’s the upcoming expansion for Warframe, called Warframe: 1999. Not only is it the next major installment in the ongoing story for the game overall, but it is a period piece. Featuring a dark military vibe in every ounce of its presentation. Right down to the cast of characters, from Arthur, voiced by Ben Starr from Final Fantasy XVI to Aoi, voiced by Alpha Takahashi from Cyberpunk 2077.
The setting taking place in a world where the Y2K scare actually took place adds so many layers of intrigue outside of just more of what the game already offers. It’s going to be something different, and something that anyone who is wandering about after the main story of Destiny 2 being finished and The First Descendent falling off should keep their eye on.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, this was a game that I’ve heard a lot about but I was never that into Indiana Jones. I remember hearing about and it was not until I saw Indiana Jones at the direct for the first time that I walked away saying “Oh my God!” For me, at that moment it had surpassed Hellblade 2 as far as an Xbox game studio and IP that I am most excited for for the year.
The combat, the whip play, I love the idea of first-person perspective I love that you can do more creative things with puzzle mechanics to breathe a little. But they still show third-person gameplay we can still see in Indiana swinging and stuff like that and it looks good. I’ve seen two previews of the game and in this final preview they had more of the moment-to-moment gameplay and that’s what really sold me. So, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, story, skill trees, everything about this game seems like a blockbuster movie of the summer kind of energy and I can’t wait to be a part of it at this point.

I’m really excited to step into the shoes of Professor Henry Jones Jr. (They named the dog Indiana). From the moment I heard they were working on an Indiana Jones game, I was excited and couldn’t wait to learn what type of game it was going to be and more details. So far I have not been disappointed. I like the idea of it being primarily from a first-person perspective, meaning the player IS Indiana Jones, not just controlling him. The more I’ve learned as far as the details of the story and where it falls in the timeline has me even more hyped to play the game. I will be checking it out on December 6 when it goes live for early access.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle goes live on Xbox and PC on December 9th. Also available via Game Pass. The game will also release on PlayStation in Spring 2025.
