Quite the Rush – Three Bethesda Games Listed for Nintendo Switch 2 (Rumor)

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been an open secret for the past few months, with hardware designs and accessories coming out of the woodwork. Even reveals during CES 2025 had Switch 2 accessories on full display for the public. While Nintendo seemingly bides its time until it is ready for the official reveal, third parties are gearing up for the incoming hardware.

Bethesda, a major pillar under Microsoft Gaming, seemingly has three games coming to the platform ahead of its 2025 launch.

Bethesda Games Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 (Rumor)

Discovered by Twitter/X user eXtas1s, they shared their findings found on Fnac stores. They sell various games, including games for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Numerous publishers, such as Bandai-Namco and Square Enix, are listed. But among those publishers, Bethesda is included as well.

They have three listings, implying that three games from the publisher are incoming for Nintendo’s upcoming platform.

Potential Bethesda Games Coming to Switch 2

Bethesda is no stranger to supporting Nintendo in recent years, with them being one of the first publishers to back the Nintendo Switch with The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and Doom (2016). So them being ready for the successor’s launch isn’t surprising to hear.

Hi-Fi Rush

Regarding what games they could be, the first one is obvious. We’ve reported on rumors suggesting that Tango’s Hi-Fi Rush was coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2024, but that never materialized. So with stronger hardware and the developer being revived under Krafton, it’s time for Chai and 808 to give Nintendo fans a taste of 2023’s best games.

A big reason the game likely didn’t release on Switch in 2024, likely was due to the Switch being unable to run it at a stable 60FPS. The game’s world and gameplay were built around running at that target frame rate.

Doom: The Dark Ages

Another game that Bethesda is likely bringing over could be Doom: The Dark Ages. Id Tech has a history of working surprisingly well on Nintendo’s underpowered hardware with Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal. With stronger hardware, somewhere between a PS4 Pro and an Xbox Series S, the Switch 2 could easily run Doom Slayer’s next bloody adventure.

The release date for Doom: The Dark Ages on Switch 2 likely hinges on when the console releases. It could be day-and-date for the platform, or similarly to Doom (2016), it could be released later into Year One of the Switch 2’s lifecycle.

Indiana Jones & The Great Circle

Recently released as a timed exclusive on Xbox Series X/S and PC, the MachineGames-developed action/adventure is also releasing on PlayStation 5 sometime in Spring 2024. However, who is to say Nintendo fans can’t join in on the fun?

Similar to my argument for Doom: The Dark Ages coming to the Switch 2, Indiana Jones & The Great Circle runs on a version of Id Tech, an engine that does work on Nintendo hardware. Even this fork of this engine has run on the Nintendo Switch before, with two of MachineGames’ Wolfenstein games running on the hardware.

I could see this making the system’s launch, as work optimizing for the Series S and the game’s Ray Tracing Global Illumination being well optimized.

Starfield

This is a big one, as Bethesda Game Studio’s open-world space RPG Starfield is quite ambitious. The game currently is Xbox Series X/S and PC exclusive, though a potential PlayStation and Switch 2 release could align with the game’s second major expansion.

Starfield: Shattered Space was released in the Fall of 2024, so a potential follow-up expansion being released a year later lines up with comments Todd Howard made about supporting the game years into its lifecycle. And considering Bethesda Game Studios supported Nintendo during the Switch’s year one with Skyrim, this would be a logical follow-up.

Fallout Series

My last possible suggestion would be the Fallout series finally makes its proper Nintendo debut. Sure, Fallout Shelter did release on the platform but it’s no traditional RPG installment in the series.

Fallout 76

Regarding which this would be, it’s hard to make a choice. A Fallout 3 remake was rumored to be in production, but we haven’t seen major updates on that rumor. So logically, the GOTY version of Fallout 4 or a special release of Fallout 76 makes the most sense.

A quick port to Switch 2 that wouldn’t eat many resources from other projects within Bethesda.
