If it is still coming out in 2026, Netease’s and Naked Rain’s Ananta is one of Lords of Gaming’s most anticipated titles of the year. Considering the recently released Neverness to Everness and how fast that took over the internet, with a similar open world that blends a little bit of mechanics that Grand Theft Auto cut its teeth on. Ananta is seemingly taking it to a whole new level with even crazier Spider-Man-like movement and a Watch Dogs-inspired character selector for one of many different gameplay styles you can switch to, which appears to be on the fly. Every bit of gameplay they’ve shown has excited me, and apparently millions upon millions of others.
Over at the official game webpage, they’ve been listing how many pre-registrations they’ve had, and recently, they’ve hit over 17 million pre-registrations with no public beta tests so far. Just from the trailers alone, Ananta has garnered massive amounts of hype, but why is that?
What’s So Exciting About Ananta?
Previously named “Project Mugen“, Ananta has always been steadily gaining hype from the online crowd. In its official title preview with an “announcement” trailer in December of 2024 that garnered millions of views, it showed off a little bit of everything about it that could entice even the average everyday gamer. And by “little bit of everything,” I do mean, a little bit of everything, from video games, just seem to be in this game, as indicated by its gameplay trailer back in November last year.
Driving around in the city, arresting people, shooting from the back of a car, Yakuza-styled melee combat, the Spider-Man web slinging, characters with abilities and ultimates, car and character customization, hacking, and even basketball for good measure. It’s harder to list what Ananta isn’t as opposed to what it is. With that being the case, it isn’t a Gacha game.

In an article from Twisted Voxel, they detailed everything about the approach. Instead of gambling on characters, you will instead be able to just recruit them in the open world, with many being part of the story. This is an awesome approach, as even Neverness to Everness features the Gacha gambling mechanic. Ananta will instead focus on cosmetics and vehicles to make money to keep the free-to-play title afloat through its many post-launch updates.
Ananta will launch sometime this year on mobile devices, such as iOS and Android phones. As well as PC and the PlayStation 5. Please stay tuned for more major news updates on the exciting title!
