The original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was an anime series taking place before the events of Cyberpunk 2077. Following the adventures of David, he faced the harsh reality of living and thriving in the world of Night City.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 New Trailer
Revealed ahead of Anime Expo LA, CD PR and Studio Trigger drop a teaser trailer, giving fans a taste of what to expect in the chaotic world of Night City.
CR PR provided the following press release explaining a little about the world of Edgerunners 2.
The series follows an entirely new cast of characters and tells a standalone story that explores the city’s darkest corners, delving deep into what it means to be an edgerunner.
The series is directed by Kai Ikarashi, with character designs by Ichigo Kanno and a story written by Bartosz Sztybor of CD PROJEKT RED and Masahiko Otsuka.

A New Station – You Can’t Run From Me from Rico Nasty
From the music artist Rico Nasty comes a killer new track perfectly capturing the chaos and mayhem of Night City. Created for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, this paints the picture for the amazing setlist the show will feature when it launches.

The Characters of Edgerunners 2
In addition to an awesome music track to jam to, the trailer also highlighted the slate of new characters for the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Here’s all you need to know about them below.
- Weak (Voiced by Kentaro Tone) – Once known as “King,” a veteran edgerunner at the top of his game, Weak now lives in the shadow of his former glory.
- D (Voiced by Koki Uchiyama) – A Snake Nation netrunner with sharp technical skills and a sharper hunger for revenge, D hunts the killer who wiped out his clan.
- Roman (Voiced by Momoka Terasawa) – Roman Carax is a young cinephile chasing real stories in a city that’s abandoned film for braindance. Obsessed with documenting truth, he shadows the lives of others — only to learn that unlike his favorite reels, Night City’s stories are messy, brutal, and rarely tied up with a clean ending.
- Talia (Voiced by Akari Kito) – Raised in corpo towers but hardened in Maelstrom’s grip, Talia is fiercely independent and steeped in the gang’s hyper-violent, chrome-obsessed culture.
Anime Expo Panel for Edgerunners 2
CD PROJEKT RED will soon be heading to Anime Expo, taking place in Los Angeles from July 2–5, 2026. On the second day of the event, July 3, the studio will host a panel dedicated to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, where attendees will get a first look at the series’ premiere episode during an exclusive screening that will not be recorded or streamed.
The panel will feature the anime’s creators — showrunner Bartosz Sztybor, executive producer Saya Elder, and director Kai Ikarashi —as well as voice actor Nazeeh Tarsha, who portrays D in the anime.Content creator Danny Motta will host the discussion.
