Announced during the Media Indie Exchange event Sunday, Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion will be launching in April. While no exact date was given, Steam and Switch owners should expect to play the game very soon. You might remember Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion (TBCTE) from one of last year’s streaming Indie Events. With that and the game’s lack of a specific release date, it could be a sign that a “Nindie Direct” is forthcoming with the exact date. For those looking to just check the game out, a demo is up on Steam.

In TBCTE, you will play a top-down adventure game with a hilarious law-breaking narrative. The visuals evoke memories of classic Super Nintendo titles. TBCTE also has some gameplay loops that fit nicely with the Switch. The game features puzzles, combat, collectible hats, crop farming, and multiple endings. Developer Snoozy Kazoo and publisher Graffiti Games describe the game as,

Take control of an adorable turnip who happens to be an absolute menace to society. After failing to pay taxes and getting evicted from your home, you must go on an epic quest to pay back your massive debt to Mayor Onion. Garden tools to solve plantastic puzzles, meet eccentric vegetables and fruits, and take on treacherous fights against animals both big and small. Along the journey uncover what’s spoiling this garden community and rise to tear down the corrupt vegetable government!

This release date around tax season is a terrific coincidence. April is starting to fill up with notable games. Titles such as Outriders, Oddworld, MLB The Show 21, Nier Replicant, New Pokemon Snap, and Returnal, are just the major releases coming next month. It will be interesting to see if the humor can carry Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion through the end of tax season. We have included the announcement trailer below.
