Exoprimal to Stop Adding New Content

Capcom as a developer has been delivering a variety of quality games for many years now. From the Monster Hunter series, Resident Evil, and even Street Fighter have all seen a massive resurgence due to Capcoms care and dedication. But in recent years they have been working on many experimental titles. Such as the upcoming Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and mysterious Pragamata games. One title they released last year, Exoprimal was one such experimental title. That was successful and found a pretty big audience at launch, but time catches up to every live service title. As of yesterday, Capcom announced that the game will be receiving no new content. But there is more to the news.

Exoprimal Will Stay Online and Seasons will Rotate

Initially, the news sounds very bad. A full priced title will stop receiving new content and this is usually cause for alarm. But Capcom has confirmed that Exoprimal will still stay online for an undisclosed amount of time:

All gameplay modes will remain available to play. This includes the main Dino Survival mode, as well as endgame content such as Savage Gauntlet and Time Loop Rebellion.
If you’re playing alone or match with only a few other players, Bots (AI-controlled Exofighters) will still be added so that you can fully enjoy the Hammerheads’ story and reach the ending. -Capcom

They also detailed that, if you purchase any of the season passes, you will still be able to earn rewards from that season pass. Each season pass will rotate in and out on a monthly basis so you can grind away. But if you are worried about your progress in these season passes being erased after that one rotates out. You will be able to keep progression. All season passes will be available in a special pack to buy at a discounted price soon.

While it is a bummer that, yet another live service title may be erased one day. Capcom has previously preserved the mobile game Megaman X: DiVE and put it on Steam to play in an offline mode. While Capcom has not announced any plans for this similar move for Exoprimal, this may be an option they look into some day before pulling the plug.
