Wayfinder Quality of Life Update Now Available
Back in June, Airship Syndicate relaunched Wayfinder with their recent Echoes Update. This update was massive, and changed what the game was fundamentally. From an always online massively multiplayer game to a single player/co-op loot focused ARPG with a truly expansive level of customization that, at its current price of $24.99 is hard to pass up.
From there on, the game was received highly from many content creators, and even their own community, as the game is sitting at very positive with so much more being added in the future. Such as todays update for the game that adds so many meaningful changes and improvements, including the previously mentioned Server Browser. Which will allow players to not only play the game alone, or with optional co-op to now find random player servers and have fun with them.
A Little Bit of Needed Refinement for Wayfinder
The big-ticket item of the update is the Find Party option. Where players can find other players based on their wayfinder rank, activity and difficulty chosen. But there is a lot more to this update, such as combat and movement improvements. In this update, they have improved the control that players have of their character in-air to make it more responsive when changing directions, cutting down on missing ledges or jumping puzzles. There are also numerous buffs to characters such as Senja and Kyros, along with changes that will impact all Wayfinders, including improved smart targeting of enemies, reduced camera issues when locked on, and more combat enhancements to improve the moment-to-moment gameplay.
Loot is also being given some love. As they are making it easier than ever to know what you’re going after by displaying resources found in the Expedition right on the mission screen. Players will also notice that armor pools are now additive, meaning once a player has exhausted their loot pool in a specific area or level range, they will start receiving lower-tier armor they may have missed from previous zones. These changes, combined with new ways to gather Spectra, will make progression smoother for both veterans and new players.
They will allow remapping for more hotkeys, adjusting the camera distance when using a controller, performance optimizations, and FOV options. There are also over 100 tiles and locations in-game that have been updated to reduce instances of getting stuck on random objects and to make ledge grabbing more consistent. The previously mentioned movement changes when in the air also make traversal less frustrating, allowing for a new level of control when platforming to that treasure chest across the Gloom Dungeon.
What Comes Next?
With so much left to be added in the game ontop of the sheer breadth of content available. Airship Syndicate is looking into custom Discord invites. Where players can send invites or host games directly through Discord quickly and easily. For example, if you are in the Wayfinder Discord and want to get some people to help take on one the many bosses? Well, players can simply create an open Discord invite, post it to the channel, and people can instantly join your session without having to exchange Steam friend requests.
Wayfinder currently available in Steam early access for $24.99, and the Echoes Update will be available to PlayStation 5 players sometime between now and the end of the summer, per an announcement on their official Twitter account.
