Stone and Clay Foundations
This Grounded guide for clay foundation, and now stone foundations will help you find even ground to build your home on. Clay foundations we’re your on means previously, but now this has changed. Stone floors/foundations are finally in the game.
Grounded is a new game by Obsidian, the masterminds behind Fallout: New Vegas, Knights of the Old Republic 2, Pillers of Eternity, and more. This unique entry into the survival genre has easily been one of the smoother ones to enter a Game Preview program. Now one big thing that most people strive to have in survival games, is having the strongest base or home as possible. Normally this usually tiers up through natural resources like grass/thatch to wood, then stone and onward. Grounded is no different in this regard. Right now with the game just recently entering Game Preview, there are not a whole lot of material choices to choose from, especially when you need a solid floor to keep the bugs out. If you don’t have a solid floor, you will have bugs and other critters come calling.

The best way to avoid that is by building a clay floor. Unfortunately, there isn’t a stone floor in Grounded, yet. Instead, you will be using a clay foundation to build your home. In order to obtain this recipe, all you need to do is find a clay deposit and analyze the material. If I remember correctly, you may not have to analyze it in order to get the recipe but either way, you should for the science points. In order to find clay deposits, head to the east of the map or any decently sized water deposit.

The clay deposit looks like a large, reddish rock.
On the east side of the map, you will see a large section that contains multiple bodies of water. Here is the goldmine of Grounded clay deposits! In order to dig them up, you’ll need to make sure to bring an Acorn shovel with you. It takes four hits to break the deposit, giving you somewhere between five and seven pieces of clay. This is currently the only means of having a solid floor to work with. A grass floor is useful but only to a certain extent. Hopefully, in future updates, we will see the materials list expanded substantially, with many more building options. Like wood flooring. Please, Obsidian?
