Rumor: Sony Is Publishing A Kojima Developed Silent Hill Game
This weekend Gematsu reported that multiple Silent Hill games are in the works. Among them is a game published by Sony and developed by Kojima Productions. This story comes from unnamed sources close to the game. At the same time, this follows news of Konami getting back into video games. The publisher looks to be returning to licensing out the rights to its games again. Beginning with the Castlevania Advance Collection last month.
Silent Hill Lives Again?
As with any rumor related to this IP returning, we have to mention the bizarre Abandoned Experience app. What is either an ARG marketing campaign around this new Silent Hill game? Or the biggest blunder an indie developer has made in quite some time. The latest trailer for the game not called Abandoned quickly flashes a character wearing the same exact clothes as the main protagonist from Silent Hill. I highly recommend you read the long story here.
What Is Sony Up To?
The question to be asked is, if this rumor is true, is Kojima finally finishing Silent Hills? Or has he begun working on something smaller? For nearly two years now, there have been rumors of two teams working on Silent Hill games. One of which is a Japanese studio, the other being Bloober Team. The developers of Blair Witch, and Silent Hill homage, The Medium.
The latter half of this rumor was seemingly confirmed by Konami when they announced a partnership with Bloober Team to publish an unannounced game based on a Konami IP. This was followed by Silent Hill’s composer teasing an announcement was coming. That tease was subsequently pulled from YouTube at the request of a third party, which sounds a lot like Sony protecting its ARG campaign.
At this point, there is too much smoke for there not to be fire with Sony and Silent Hill. It appears Sony has some hidden announcements it is still working on. Which may be coming in the form of this Abandoned ARG.
