Warframe to Soulframe Stream Breakdown

Today on the official Twitch channel for Warframe, Digital Extremes hosted a stream detailing the transition to developing Soulframe. The new IP that was revealed during Tennocon last month. This stream went on for over twenty minutes and gave light details on the upcoming title. Here is everything that was discussed.

All Details from the Soulframe Transition Stream

Starting off with details for Soulframe. They clarified it is not a single-player game. It will be a free-to-play MMO game with a co-op focus similar to Warframe itself. You can play it solo, however. Both games are being made with developers from Warframe. Such as Geoff Crookes, the animation and art director for Warframe, is the creative director of Soulframe. While Steve Sinclair is moving on to programming and writing primarily for Soulframe.

One of the many pros to this approach is they share the same game engine. So if new technology is implemented into one game, it can be shared across both. Such as “motion matching” which will align how a character moves depending on the terrain. The Soulframe site will continue to have the same puzzle, for now, to get in and claim your in-game name. As well as being able to enjoy some concept art.

They did mention some details surrounding the setting and gameplay as well. Such as the antagonistic force being called the “Ode”. Who go around conquering the land and capturing “Omens” or animals. The scene with the lantern and the confrontation with the three knights was indicative of a mission structure. When players save Omens they are able to unlock new abilities as well. The game’s main theme will be reconnecting with nature as an Envoy after being cast out.

There are no platforms confirmed for Soulframe at this time. As well as no clear release window. There were a few teases for Warframe as well. Such as Proteas deluxe skin in-game, faster teleportation into your ship from the Camp, confirming a very long stream with in-depth looks at Veilbreaker, the next major update. As well as the full gameplay reveals for the fiftieth warframe, Styanax. Alongside his animation being played.
