A Few Predictions and Wants for Summer Games Fest

Summer Games Fest hosted than by none other than Geoff Keighley of The Game Awards Fame. Is just around the corner and will air on June 7th. In the midst of a lot of industry uncertainty, and the general public not really knowing when the next big thing is coming. Shows like Summer Games Fest are important for keeping general audiences in the know. Especially with the passing of E3. But when it comes to what could be shown, that is a total mystery. So, in the spirit of fun, us at Lords of Gaming came together to put some predictions and things we would like to see at the show!

More Kojima, and a Dash of Black Myth Wukong at Summer Games Fest from Mahmood Ghaffar, Editor-In-Chief

Though it is sad to see the slow death of E3, Summer Game Fest has filled that void… Well, sort of. It is the culmination of industry-wide announcements and unveilings that Geoff Kieghly has tremendously put together but has its own distinct vibe to it. Naturally, it wouldn’t be a Geoff show without a Hideo Kojima appearance, so expect some update on Death Stranding 2 or OD. Also, with an affinity for Hollywood A-listers, expect another celebrity to grace the show and have their own “enjoy your gaming” moment.

I expect Black Myth: Wukong to absolutely steal the show and be the viral game of the summer ahead of its August release. Expect the new Borderlands to also make a splash. Since Hollywood is hot off the heels of the Mad Max and Dune franchises, there will be game tie-ins as well, such as Dune: Awakening survival game by Funcom and perhaps a teaser of an upcoming Mad Max game.

Wants from Nintendo, Xbox and Ubisoft, from Billy The Brewer, Associate Author

It’s that time of the year again! The official unofficial beginning of the summer, Summer Games Fest. It’s time to put on our rose-tinted goggles and go big with ambitious predictions. Sony has been very quiet this year, with the exception of the incredible launch of Helldivers 2, there has not been much to show from their first party studios outside of what we saw with games like Astro Bot at the recent State of Play. I don’t really have many predictions from them outside of getting some 2025 release dates for their multiple first party games-as-a-service titles. Do I have much hope for those titles? Not much, but that’s a discussion for another day.

On the Nintendo side of things everyone is awaiting the inevitable reveal of the Switch 2, whether or not it will land this summer or later in the fall closer to a 2025 launch, I’m not sure. I predict a new Zelda title that is not a remake or remaster and let’s get a new open world Mario game thrown into this prediction article, too!

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Cover Art

We’ll get gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws gameplay. I also believe we will see release dates for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Avowed, and Stalker 2. We have not heard about Flintlock: Siege of the Dawn in a while, and I think we will have a look at Contraband and Clockwork Revolution. Throw in a release date for Replaced, because it is one of my most anticipated games of the last few years and I am ready to get my hands on it!

Less Ads, More Game’s, and Celebrating Them, From Joseph Repko, Associate Editor

I could list off multiple games I would like to see from my wildest fantasies. Like a thorough gameplay demo of Judas, the reveal of the next Gears of War, and maybe the reveal of Dean Dodrills next game. For those unaware, he is responsible for one of the best indie games in the space called Dust: An Elysian Tail. But one thing that still sticks in my craw after The Game Awards is how heavy-handed advertisements and pointless cameos have become.

I do not want to see Pikachu themed car, or a celebrity coming on stage to say he does not play games at this years Summer Games Fest. I would like to just see all developers work shine on stage, with maybe little interviews in-between to help send a visual message of care across every publisher and development studio. So many studios have died over the last few years, a lot of meaningful ones this year alone too. I know well in advance that my hopes of a more caring presentation for the developers may not make it in. But I can only hope that Doordash gets less name drops than a development studio.
