Marvel Dominates the Box Office as Dune Starts its Run

Marvel dominates the box office for the third weekend in a row. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings remained on top as Cry Macho flopped. While in the international market, Dune grossed an impressive amount of money.

Shang-Chi Still Reigns Supreme

Shang-Chi grossed an additional $21.6 million this weekend. Currently, the film is easily on its way to surpass the $300 million mark worldwide. At the moment, the movie is sitting at $288 million worldwide.

Marvel dominates everything that they touch. Black Widow grossed an impressive amount of money, despite releasing on Disney+ and all the legal issues that came after. Free Guy retained the second spot as it grossed $5 million. While Cry Macho came in third in the box office during the weekend. The Clint Eastwood film grossed an estimated $4.4 million in its opening weekend. However, it’s worth noting that HBO Max is also streaming the film to its subscribers. So, that could have impacted Cry Macho‘s box office numbers.

Copshop was the other movie that was released in a large number of theaters across the US. Although it only grossed an estimated $2.3 million in its first weekend. By comparison, one movie that was released in a limited number of theaters grossed a decent amount of money.

The Ghost in the Shell remaster grossed a total of $220,389 in its first weekend. This is impressive given its limited release. While Dune has started its international run. The highly aniticipated sci-fi movie generated $37.9 million in its first weekend. Look for this movie to be released on October 22nd in theaters and on HBO Max.

1. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings $21.6 million

Dear Evan Hansen is the only movie that will be released next weekend in a large number of theaters. However, just expect for Shang-Chi to continue its run at number one. Following that, Venom: Let Their be Carnage will be released on October 1st after being delayed. Expect Marvel to dominate the box office for the next few months.
